Organisations hire professionals to integrate ERP solutions to work processes to make them more efficient and productive.

Here are some career professionals who typically use this resume:

  • Functional consultants: A person in this position is typically responsible for integrating ERP with existing workflow processes to increase their output and craft strategies to optimise their performance.

  • Technical consultants: Technical consultants manage ERP software processes and solutions. They're familiar with how to troubleshoot issues and customise the software to fit an organisation's requirements.

  • Techno-functional consultants: This group of professionals has knowledge of the software and strategic components of ERP. They enable businesses to formulate ERP solutions.

How to write an ERP resume

Here are eight steps you can follow to write this resume:

1. Prepare your resume format

Before you start writing your resume, prepare the format by choosing a suitable font type and size. You can use an 11- or 12- point font that's clear and easy to read, like Times New Roman or Arial. Differentiate your section headers by using a slightly larger font size or bolding the headers. You can make your resume look neater by justifying the text and using one-inch margins for the page borders.

It can be helpful to consider your qualifications to decide if it's better to emphasise your skills or experiences. For example, if you have a lot of work experience in ERP, you can use a chronological resume format to list your different positions and responsibilities. If you want to emphasise your skills, you can include information about the past projects you've executed.

2. Include your contact information

It's important to include your contact information in a section on your resume so that hiring managers can easily contact you for interviews. Put your full name, email address and phone number. You can also include links to your professional social media profiles to give hiring managers more insight into your working experiences. Ensure that your email address is professional and associated with your name for easy reference.

3. Draft a career aim

Your career aim is a short and succinct summary of what you're looking for in an ERP position. In two to three sentences, draft your career aim at the start of your resume. You can write what you hope to achieve in the position and what you can offer, with details of your main achievements and skills.

4. Elaborate on your professional experience

Keep the details of each professional experience to two to three sentences, or use bullet points so that hiring managers can read through your resume quickly. If you've held many ERP roles throughout your career, you can pick a few that you worked at the longest or the three latest positions. This ensures that your resume remains clear and succinct.

5. Create a section for education

Organisations typically prefer candidates who have a bachelor's degree and ERP certifications. On your resume, list the schools you've attended and the type of degree or certificate you got. If you went to university, include details of your university name, degree name and duration of your studies. ERP professionals may not require specific qualifications, but organisations notice candidates who possess ERP knowledge and prior training.

6. Add a skills section

Adding a skills section is important to highlight your ERP abilities or skills that distinguish you from other candidates. You can consider putting your skills section before or after your work experience. The skills section is also where you can detail any other software you have experience with.

You can list your skills and elaborate on them in your work experience and summary sections. This section makes your abilities clear to hiring managers and helps them plan for additional training you may require. Placing it before or after your work experience section also means that you can demonstrate your skills when you talk about past projects you've worked on.

7. Consider additional sections

For a comprehensive resume, you can think about adding more sections to substantiate your experiences. Here are some sections you can consider adding to help you draft a unique resume:

  • Volunteer experience: Sharing about your volunteer experience can demonstrate your passion for helping others and contributing to society.

  • Languages: Depending on the organisation that you're applying to, they may interact with clients worldwide. It can help to list languages you can speak fluently to show that you can appeal to global clients and businesses on behalf of the organisation.

  • Awards and recognition: This section showcases your public accomplishments that can come from your past employers or associations. It can demonstrate your work ethic and passion for your job.

  • Professional associations: If you belong to several professional organisations, you can include them on your resume to show potential employers that you're committed to a career in ERP and seek connections with other professionals to improve your skills and develop your career.

8. Proofread your resume
