Good place to work for a short time
Amazon can provide great compensation but the work environment can be toxic and demanding. You must interview with and join the right team. If you find yourself on the wrong team, then move to a new one quickly. It is a big company and you need to find like minded people that share your passion; then it is a great place to be. Commit to four years and you'll come away well compensated but don't expect management to be good for your career unless you are the top performer on your team (and don't out perform the young, over their head, boss or you can expect to be fired).

Good fast paced environment to learn
If you want to learn about the world of ecommerce and logistics, there is no better place to be at. Needless to say they are the best in the industry. It is a very fast paced environment with high expectations. People are generally very friendly, good team work with collaborative approach. Because of their position in the industry though, they tend to underpay for talent. If you prove yourself, they are fair to promote. Eventually salary could become interesting if stay long enough due to the stock portion. But that takes a long time. Not on par with others in the industry.

Competitive, Yet Innovative
Amazon is a great place to learn and develop your own skills. You can make your own ideas become a reality and change the world. Unfortunately, Amazon is not for everyone. The average employee lasts less than two years for many reasons. For some, its just not the right fit. For others, the work-life balance is doesn't work. There are many opportunities to move from team to team and learn different aspects of the business, but advancement becomes limited once you hit a certain level.
Pros
Good pay and benefits
Cons
No company loyalty, cut-throat environment
