Job training is good but majority of emphasis on sales and just filling the club with a warm body. support from upper management is mediocre and is declining rapidly. Unrealistic expectations and lack of consistent staff makes achieving bonuses difficult. Micromanaging style. Huge staffing issues and turn-over. Steady decline of educated staff. management is great at listening, but unable to fix much.
Pros
Free gym membership, ok benefits
Cons
Lack of support, staffing issues, unkept promises from main office common, sent to diff gyms all the time

They say you get paid extra for teaching a class or a training session but that doesn't happen. Pay is medium and only a tiny fraction of you sales comes to you. It's a good in-between job.
Pros
Flexibility
Cons
Pay

Roscoe, IL location staff continuously segregate groups of the community, leaving the rest of the members feeling excluded from opportunities. These have included group exercise classes offered at only a certain time, filling up with the same people, weeks in advance, without any other members having a chance to join. Staff members promote this as well as encouraging favoritism. This is only one example. There is no room for growth when there is a monopolization between staff. Business model is very seriously flawed for their own profit also - needs to focus on actually helping people rather than creating an imaginary issue to be fixed by personal training.
Pros
Flexible schedule

My boss / owner of the company was awesome to work for I learned a lot about customer service and handling complaints. it can be hard to find someone to cover your shift if there's not enough people. Members can be awesome bur there are also some of the few that are hard to deal with.
Pros
Hour lunch, relaxing environment, free gym membership
Cons
Low pay, members.

The owners of this location do not care about the gym, the equipment, the staff, or the members - they only care about how much money they make. The hours are not flexible and it’s almost impossible to take time off because a manager has to be there during staffed hours no matter what. The owners come once every two weeks to bring some extra supplies and the paychecks are ALWAYS late. You only get $10 per sign up for $500+ contracts and barely anything off supplement sales. Your work load is ridiculous and unable to be completed in the allotted shift time. The owners refuse to cancel people unless they have proof as to why they want to cancel and often times ignore complaints.

Cons
Owners, rules, responsibilities

Worked here for many years. Good place to build clientele. Good club culture. My only gripe was the insurance. It wasn't that great. I wouldn't train for them again.
Pros
Very flexible hours
Cons
Feeling unimportant.

Respect for independent instructors, as opposed to personal trainers, is lacking. There are no incentives, as every instructor is pd $25 per class no matter what. Independents are also treated more like non-essential outsiders than part of the fitness team.
Pros
Freedom to create and update workouts
Cons
Pressured to fill classes with members, Anytime does nothing to help promote classes, sign-in sheets were often skewed, pay structure is bad.

I joined AF as gyms were getting shut down due to COVID. So this made it relatively difficult to prospect new members. So trying to hit sales goals were a bit tough but upper management understood this hurdle. With that being said we still had to push towards goals and adjust selling methods. It was a fun experience and absolutely loved my clients. For anyone considering pursuing personal training as a career. Knowledge and muscles only get you so far. If you can’t sale yourself by talking with members and calling prospects, this isn’t for you.
Pros
Great people, pay reasonable, tons of resources
Cons
Broken or outdated equipment for high membership fees

Can be a good place to get started when working as a personal trainer. Flexibility is offered, however, depending on the franchise you work at, it may be difficult to find enough hours to make a good living off of. Management is supportive
Pros
Culture, training
Cons
Long breaks. limited hours

The corporation itself is awesome. Since it is franchised, individual experiences will vary depending on club ownership. It is a fun, encouraging company to work for, and offers a community experience unlike any other gym I've been to. Everyone is genuinely passionate about what they do, including the founders, who manage to still be very approachable people
Pros
Free gym membership, encouraging atmosphere, yearly corporate retreat
Cons
Not all owners follow Corporate's recommended business model; compensation can vary
