Bank of America Salary & Benefits reviews: Information Security Analyst

I spent over a decade at the bank and loved the culture. They are known to reduce workforce several times of year though so you need to constantly move departments before you get laid off. Great pay, great people, great benefits. Wish they didn't gave such a high turnaround rate.

Great Company to work

Information Security Analyst; Officer (Former Employee) - Agoura Hills, CA - July 28, 2018

Loved working for Bank of America. Day to day consisted of project building and analysis. Project management type style work. Definitely lots of multitasking and that requires quick turn around times. Great company overall to work for with great benefits.

IT Security Analyst III (Former Employee) - Dallas TX - August 28, 2017

The Bank is a good place for people that want to see really good really good IT Security Controls. Everything is based on a formal risk methodology. Very stable they do use a lot of contractors. I was one. That is not all bad.

Fairly low pay both for full time and contractors.

Rigid as an iron rail. Don't you dare think.

The company is very proud of itself and very rigid. They see no reason to change. Original thinking not required. They are not hostile, in fact they are respectful while ignoring you. Just understand what it is, a giant rigid company which can grow your resume and pay you for a while. It's not bad, but it is certainly not your dream job.

The amount of money they spend promoting themselves. There's a lack of balance between that and taking care of employees. There's a lack of sincerity.

Bank of America presents well. They seem like an awesome company. But since they are a huge company, many things get missed. There's a lack of professionalism and mentorship. Don't expect answers or even slight acknowledgement when asking questions. Questions you are asking when trying to learn how to do the job. You'll be ignored or dismissed entirely. Some of their processes don't interact well together. It's difficult to get resolutions. Just from what I saw as being an employee, I would NEVER want to be a customer or client. Even though they promote support for military, when it comes to actually having to leave for duty, the process was terrible and incredibly difficult. Your management, HR, and the benefit teams involved don't understand the process so you're on your own trying to figure it out. The company is also not always transparent. For example, those chosen to work in office and those chosen to work from home and the reasons and how the ultimate decision was made. Those working in the office were just told they had to work in the office and had been deemed "mission essential." Even for roles that can be done entirely remotely. Whether or not an employee wanted to risk their health and safety, during a global pandemnic, to report to work should have been an individual choice, not a company's. Another concern - employees shouldn't have to PAY to go to work. Employees shouldn't have to pay for parking, especially with a company that is the 3rd largest bank IN THE WORLD. This company has a ton of money. Funneling this substantial fee, approximately $300/month, is absolutely ridiculous. This is not taking care of employees.

Ok place to work

Information Security Analyst(Former Employee) - Jacksonville, FL - May 16, 2018

Worked as a contract employee for the typical 18 month contract and then had to leave for 3 months per contract policy. If you are lucky to come back - I was not - it is in a different role. The pay was above average for the job. Meeting were mundane and mostly unnecessary. It takes too long to get you all access and hardware necessary to do your job.
