Good work crew, disconnected management
Peon (Current Employee) - Poolesville, MD - January 19, 2021
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedInsourcing Solutions is a contract vehicle. The management is less than excellent as far as support, and staffing. It's all about their bottom line cash. They will underbid and understaff. They will promise a one weekend a month overtime duty, but in reality will be 2-3 weekends a month, and cut your overtime with "alternate work schedule" and have you not work on weekdays. This make it impossible to complete workload during the week causing stress and fatigue, overworking all employees constantly.
Pros
reasonable benefits
Cons
Disconnected management. Unreliable / dishonest HR personnel

Great place to gain experience
Support Technician (Former Employee) - Montréal, QC - June 26, 2022
I had a great time there, met lovely co-workers, lunch is always fresh, good quality and cheap. Worked in different departments, and met a great deal of technicians who are passionate about their work. Truly remarkable colleagues, very helpful when you need help, you can count on them.

Ambiente lavorativo opprimente e stressante
Animal care taker (Former Employee) - Milano, Lombardia - June 23, 2022
Possibilità di crescita vicine allo zero. Competizione, nepotismo e finzione pervadono l’azienda Non consiglio a nessuno questo posto di lavoro
Pros
Nessuno

Promotions to fill positions can be good or bad
Production Technician (Former Employee) - Connecticut - June 23, 2022
You can move up but under qualified people can move up as well. Tread carefully. Room for growth and improvement. Could be better. Reliant on a great team environment.
Pros
Great work environment
Cons
Management is silly

Altijd veel werk met een leuk team
Biotechnicus (Current Employee) - Den Bosch - June 23, 2022

Unprofessional and unbalanced work environment
Analyst (Former Employee) - Senneville, QC - June 17, 2022
Unprofessional and disrespectful management in the way they speak and act towards the analysts. Analysts are yelled at by management. Can never take a day off when requested. Favouritism towards those are the manager’s favorite. No advancement or raise compared to the amount of work given. Overworked with forced overtime every week due to poor communication and management. High stress and pressure to performed perfectly with no room for mistakes. Often demanded to perform task outside of job position level. No staff appreciation. Very high turn over.
Cons
Forced over time, yelled at by management

If they like you, you're set. If not, good luck
Technician (Former Employee) - Kingston, NY - June 17, 2022
New management is trying to fix the culture but there's still enough people who have been there long enough that can affect your success at the company

Opportunità in breve tempo
Impiegato d' ufficio/Impiegata d' ufficio (Current Employee) - Calco, Lombardia - June 1, 2022

Jobs at Charles River Laboratories
Extraordinary place to work at.
Technician (Former Employee) - Kingston - May 31, 2022
It is a great place to work at. As long as you can handle being inside your whole shift. And also the care of the animals is the main goal at the end of the day.

Terrible management
Study Technician (Former Employee) - Massachusetts - May 24, 2022
Insourcing Solutions is the absolute worst part about Charles River. They don’t want new ideas. They only want work horses. Run far. The pay is horrible. Do not come to work for CRL unless you want favoritism and abuse. Upper management and HR do not listen when the clients complain they believe the clients only!

Environnement de travail stressant
Assistant technicien 2 (Current Employee) - Laval, QC - May 11, 2022
C’est un laboratoire de recherche, il faut être précis dans notre travail donc cela est stressant à court terme. Le salaire n’est pas très avantageux.
Pros
Repas gratuit (sometimes)
Cons
Courte pause, overtime ++, physique

Trusting environment where managers treat you with respect, and allow you to do your work without micromanaging.
Corporate Response Technician (Former Employee) - Cambridge, MA - May 11, 2022
Charles River has great benefits, fair pay, and trusting managers that let you do your work with the trust and respect you deserve. The importance of the research CRL does should be enough to want to succeed in the job. No one wants to ruin an experiment because they got lazy and didn't maintain sterility! If you work hard, and maintain a good attention to detail you will be rewarded both with respect and monetarily.
Pros
Lunch breaks, consistent hours, clear expectations, vacation time and benefits
Cons
Working with animals involved in biomedical research isn't for everyone, but CRL has many protocols in place to eliminate unnecessary suffering, and make the animals as comfortable as possible.

Overall, a good company to work for. Good management, great benefits, and good culture.
Laboratory Technician I (Former Employee) - Malvern, PA - May 9, 2022
Management/ coworkers were super helpful and always willing to help new employees succeed and learn. The benefits were great, and PTO allowed for lots of flexibility within reason. The position was not a good fit for me personally, but as a company, they are solid.

Sample management is terrible
Lab Technician (Former Employee) - Reno, NV - May 7, 2022
Whatever you do, DO NOT GO INTO SAMPLE MANAGEMENT. I have been in there for almost 4 years without a promotion. I work my but off from day 1 literally developing every that the department has on the lab tech side. They promoted PEOPLE I HAVE TRAINED and ask me questions TO THIS DAY. they will not promote you unless you are a kiss up and lazy. I will not recommend anyone to this company.

Not Great
Animal Care Technician (Current Employee) - Rockville, MD - May 5, 2022
They promise good advancement opportunities during your interview but then nothing progresses after that. Management picks favorites and gives them easier tasks or barely anything at all. One person is expected to do the work for 2-3 people.

Production Technician
Laboratory Production Technician (Former Employee) - Connecticut - May 2, 2022
Company provides low pay to technicians. Not much room for advancement. I would not recommend this job as a long term option. It’s best for someone right out of college who is looking to gain experience to apply for something with more pay and better learning opportunities. Company culture definitely has to change since this position and location has high turnover.

Always something to do.
Research Assistant (Former Employee) - Ashland, OH - May 2, 2022
They were just starting and adapting a second shift when I started working there in 2017. Always potential for picking up extra shifts, making extra money. Matching of 401k and such is a great bonus as well. Managers are hit or miss with kindness but aren't we all sometimes?

Worse than high school
Does not matter (Former Employee) - Dormont, PA - April 29, 2022
This place is nothing but cliques and gossip. The managers and trainers all talk about you and single you out to everyone when your new and everyone acts like it’s high school. It’s pretty much show up and shut your mouth and even then it’s still not good enough. If you don’t fit it your treated like complete trash by everyone and constantly pulled into talk to the higher ups about things you did or said even if you didn’t do or say it by all the mean girls. It’s literally worse than high school.

Work environment is unhappy & negative. Managers are unable to give clear instructions, often change rules, very hypocritical. And they play favorites
