Lack of manpower and long hours

Lack of capable manpower. I have to OT regularly to accommodate for my inexperienced colleagues in order and to overcome some software teething issues.

Cons

Long Hours

Questionable planning

completely unplanned intern role and a waste of time, i spent more time looking at the port rather than doing something productive.Alot of office politics btw workers, managers and directors. No proper communication between the ranks, miscoms seems to be due to incompetent individuals hiding relevant and material information to different stakeholders.Potential reason behind this would most likely be the self volunteering as a potential system, where first impression and relationships would be more of a succeding factor rather then ability to think, give direction and manage a team. Additionally, high reliance on internal mobility results in a smaller talent pool in the already really small demographics that we have here. Beware of gaslighting when something goes wrong, individuals in such cultures are really good at pushing blame, responsibility and redirecting the actual cause of the problem to someone else. However, this could just be at the dept i was at. Can't possibly all be like this. pros: associates and analyst were considerably fun and inclusive people. [they left fyi HAHAHAHA]

the culture is not very good. the management believes you must bow down to them

i found the culture at DBS very stifling, management thinks everyone must bow down to them and agree to their whims and fancies.very hierarchical atmostphere

Pros

early off on fridays at 5pm

Intense

1. CEO that recognises the importance of creating a fail safe culture and environment 2. Place for candidates with potential, passion and performant to explore great opportunities with internal mobility 3. Bank, yet a technology company that focuses and values engineering practices 4. Lot of learning opportunities for staff to pick up new skills

Ok if you want to settle

Chill workplace if you want to settle up, but if you want challenge especially for young people (below 30) then it's not an ideal.low pay compare to industry, no stock, low bonus (1 month)

Senior staff are not nurturing

Working in the branch means running around ensuring that the queue does not snake outside the banking hall. We get paid for 30 mins of break time but I rather have the full hour. Generally work about 10 hours a day and you have to work on Saturdays. Due to the nature of work, senior staff are not very nurturing to mentor new staff

Productive and fun but too many OT

People are friendly, will guide you through if you show you’re willing to learn but the OT culture is too much. converting from contract to perm is horrible even if you deliver well. Fyi, this for back ops

Good welfare

Overall friendly and understanding environment. Work like balance is encouraged, and recreational activities are frequently organised. Most designers work on separate projects & work closer with teams from other departments. Creativity and autonomy are limited by the need for approval from multiple parties, often deviating from our own ideas or beliefs.

Tough call centre

I have had extensive experience in call center industry and i still found the job at DBS tough. Calls are never ending, even on weekends. Customers are demanding, everything also wants to complain. Processes are long and complicated. Supervisors are not readily available most of the time to answer your questions as a newbie and more senior staff are busy with their own calls and cases. After the training its sink or swim time. Join the call center only if you are ready to handle calls non stop. Applying for annual leave is difficult. Applying for mc is even more troublesome with multiple persons and whatsapp group to report to. The call center manager even thinks that ppl who take mc are just ruining the stats. It is also difficult to seek help from other departments on some issues or escalations; they are more than happy to escalate the issue back to you. Call center agents are not considered human; i was just a number to the management. How many calls i take, how long i need to finish the calls, how long the personal break i take daily. Really inhumane if you ask me. Sure, basic pay is good. Allowances for afternoon or night shift is even better. But there are other jobs that pay lesser and doesnt make you want to off yourself at the end of your shift. I have seen more experienced staff there who are happy to be there but this was just not for me. Go apply at your own risk.

Happy can help customers solve their bank problems.

What is the best part of working at the company? No paper work. Can go home earlier. Learned alot about bank products and uses of Atm/Btm/Vtm machines. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Meeting impatient, rude and demanding customers. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Pleasant and helpful staff. Also have good BSM and DSMs. Good teamwork. Helpful Aestos guard. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Busy like a 'bee'! But enjoyable and pleasant job satisfaction. Felt good when customers' needs are met and they thanked you.

Good learning experience, but stressful.

The team i was in had a pretty decent manager, however sometimes her attitude can be seen as unprofessional/tyrant like. Good learning experience as you will be indulging in different kinds of projects but, team management style is still not as good and not as collaborative.

Not yet an ideal workplace for tech talents

Joined DBS on 2 separate occasions, one as a contract staff and another a perm. My experience working at DBS gave me rude awakening transitioning from the public sector. Processes are more scoped up and there are plenty of red tapes with restrictions in using certain technologies in analytics. My advice is to anyone who to join DBS as a data analyst or scientist is to do a background research on the hiring manager. Some of them have poor soft and managerial skills without adequate data literacy. There are those who have technical acumen but poor collaborative attitude and have a preference for a certain group.

Pros

Can wear business casual if you are not facing any customers

Cons

Corporate politics and micromanagement

Productive but stressful fast pace

What is the best part of working at the company?Good Pay and benefits that are aligned to market and industry What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Having to do more every year if some senior managers resign What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Good culture but only the specific department head was not experience in senior management handling thus resulted in many high expectations and deliverables to achieve year after yearWhat is a typical day like for you at the company?Very hectic.many meetings around how to achieve KPIs or what are the new ideas or proposed process to implement
