fast pace and evolving place
Senior Consultant (Former Employee) - Singapore - January 9, 2023
Typical large, fast-paced organization that requires you to focus on multiple tasks at once. Nice coworker, but there is a staff shortage and long working hours. Need to do bd in addition to projects

Great learning environment but subpar compensation
Audit Intern (Former Employee) - Singapore - December 8, 2022
Good experience as I mostly worked with helpful A/S/AM as team members who were hardworking and patient. Only saw M/SM occasionally and they always look stress. See luck. Hardest part was going home because client office (worked them most of the time to access documents easily) was 1.5 hours away by public transport, and there's a consensus (pretty sure laid down by M/SM for budgeting reasons) to only work till 8 so cannot claim cab. Team members continue working from home thereafter. Most enjoyable was being able to put education/theory into practice, essentially learning something new every week. Chose not to convert because low starting salary, long working hours (9-8pm even as intern) and shifting interest towards finance.
Pros
Brand name
Cons
Long hours

Audit is audit
Audit Assistant (Current Employee) - Singapore - October 1, 2022
Expect long hours during peak. 9:30am - 6pm and 9pm-2am. Management and team depends on luck. You get micromanagers and managers who trust your work. High turnover means you have to pick up slack.

Good starting place
Senior Consultant (Former Employee) - Singapore - September 2, 2022
Stayed here for almost 4 years. Good place to start. Quite structured organisation so you know what to expect. Be prepared to bounce between projects that you will have no control in choosing; if you're lucky you get good project and team, if not then there's little you can do about it other than see it through.
Pros
Interesting Projects
Cons
Low Compensation

Good place to learn, however ...
Audit Senior (Former Employee) - Singapore - June 17, 2022
For assurance, EY is a good place to learn as with other big 4s, but you have to be proactive if not it is just working on different engagements and you will not feel motivated to improve and learn. With its diverse clientele, you can gain good commercial knowledge, but again there is if you are proactive enough to find out more either from your managers or clients. Bad part of the firm is you are almost always double booked for engagements which is not ideal.

Productive and fun culture
Senior Consultant (Former Employee) - Central Singapore - February 18, 2022
A nice place to start off your early career. Great training and development opportunities. A lot of chances to travel around but not much time to enjoy life.
Pros
Fancy office and nice perks
Cons
long hours

Mixed Feelings
Audit Associate (Former Employee) - Singapore - November 10, 2021
The people you work with are mostly great. As a fresh grad, you will be working with people of the same age group and it feels like being back in university again. The relationships I've built here were a plus point. However, work life balance is poor to non-existent at times. Managers will contact you and expect you to work till the wee hours, even on weekends, especially during the peak period. Although EY has a good structure in place for your career progression, you will be under-compensated for the amount of time spent at work especially if you're in assurance. If work life balance and high salary is important to you, this is not for you. If you like a job that's fast-paced, constantly changing then go for it.
Pros
Insurance coverage, OT meal expense, great people
Cons
Long hours, Low Salary

Jobs at EY
Will not recommend working there
Audit Senior (Former Employee) - Singapore - November 23, 2020
Management do not appreciate staff as they view staff as dispensable. Hours are long and it's pretty hard to take leave. Planning of leave is pretty difficult as well as leave only gets approved 1 month prior to the actual leave.

Good for graduates only
Senior Manager (Former Employee) - Singapore - March 25, 2020
Too much influence from 1 particular country's culture permeating the firm's management style
Good for graduates
Long hours, bad benefits, the intent is to squeeze every drop from the staff
Salary is market-level

Fast-paced and tight timelines
Audit Senior (Current Employee) - Singapore - February 7, 2020
Am audit career is a good career pathway for someone who wants to go on to be an audit partner or financial controller as it allows you to review and learn about various types of companies in a short span of time which is not experienced elsewhere in other non-audit firms i.e commercial companies. You pay for the experience with overtime and imbalanced work-life situation.

Good place to start your career, but not a place to stay
Manager (Current Employee) - Singapore - January 14, 2020
EY is a huge global company which spans four different service lines and 100+ countries. Your experience will differ greatly from country to country and team to team.

Competitive Workplace
Tax Intern (Current Employee) - Singapore - December 22, 2019
A competitive workplace, but offers great exposure to the tax services industry. I will definitely recommend this place for internship, even though the learning curve can be steep, it is worth the experience because you get to learn a lot more than you would expect.
