Faced paced, very flexible, friendly colleagues

Indeed featured review

Application: Very smooth process, no interview needed and we were asked when we would start our training right after the orientation. Uniform and cap was given right on the spot too.Flexibility: As a poly student, I find the working hours at GYG very flexible. We have an app where we can input our unavailability and the manager will roster you shifts based on your availability. However, we cannot choose how many hours we can work, it is solely based on the scheduling manager. Staff meal is also given only if you work 5 hours and above.Work Environment: GYG has very high standards and protocols that we follow. However, I do find that working conditions can be quite dangerous as the kitchen (at my outlet) is rather small and we always have to squeeze through eachother when working. Some equipment and storage items are also placed high up so it is quite difficult for shorter people to reach. My colleagues are quite friendly and nice. They would usually do their best to correct me if there are any mistakes made. However, do prepare yourself as there can be a lot of yelling in the kitchen during peak hours.Overall, the working culture of GYG is good and you can actually have fun working here if you are put in the same shift as the "fun people". Other than that, the GYG customers are also relatively nice (very few "karens"). I would say, it's a pretty good company if you are working in the F&B industry for the first time. Training is provided and we also have to do "home based learning" in our HOLA! Academy app to better familiarise ourselves with the procedures and protocols -

Great HR team, and colleagues, but v strict company

Recruitment into the company was fast and smooth, and colleagues in my outlet were excellent to work with. However, company policies were quite strict. All food had to be thrown after shifts- With the current food waste ads everywhere, this food could be donated to some organisation to provide meals for some people right? Also, staff meals could only be 'earned' if you worked 5h and above. I understand if we can't get a break after 5h, but still, have to pay for our food afterwards? We don't even decide the shift hours, and sometimes we get 4h 45mins, and it feels like we were purposely not given 5h so we can't eat:(

Toxic company and work environment

Company advertise itself as a “Family” like working environment. How ironic I feel like I sign up myself for adoption into this abusive family. They dont even feed you honestly. Most shift allocated is only up to 4.5h when the staff meal required is 5h minimum

Stressful and under appreciative company

As long as you are new, people will take advantage of that. Managers are quite indifferent about your experience and will continue to pile despite the workload of day to day tasks

Pros

Food is provided but you must hit the minimum hour. Selected items only.

Cons

you slave for a slightly higher pay

a fast-paced but fun work environment

-Everyday you'll be allocated a main position (cashier, server or line) and have a secondary task like restocking drinks, taking out the trash and preparing guacamole- you might have different tasks everyday, so it's never too boring-You are prone to minor burns as the hot press is used a lot-Most co-workers are very patient and helpful -Have to multi-task a lot, and be efficient

Pros

flexible working hours

Excellent work environment

It’s good n wonderful to learn something new. Any kind of situation or place where you are in and have some experience. It would be added values towards your personal learning experience as far as your management skills that could help you to boost up your level of learning skills and experiences that could help in future.

Pros

Free staff meals

Cons

Normal working hours as follow MOM rules

Good money, good place temporarily

Taking customer orders, cleaning condiment area and restocking drinks. The managers and co-workers there are mostly helpful and friendly. Other than your main job (cashier, server or line) you are required to do an additional task (cleaning, making guacamole, washing dishes...)

Pros

Free lunch if work more than a certain number of hours
