Well paid good atmosphere
Support Manager (Former Employee) - Rugby - October 29, 2022
Well paid roles. Given lots of autonomy and trusted to do your job. They need to be more data driven however. Moving towards a continuous improvement culture.
Pros
Pay.
Cons
Can be long hours but satisfaction

Terrible
Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) - Warrington, Cheshire - October 26, 2022
The Job is very tiring, with only one thirty minute break. The warehouse is also very cold so make sure you bring warm clothing. Free parking is the only perk

My body was severely damaged whilst doing this work
Van driver (Former Employee) - Liverpool - October 25, 2022
Expected to break speed limits to hit targets causing a danger to life in residential areas. Expected to collect heavy sacks of parcels sometimes in excess of sixty kilo, with no lifting aids provided.

Bad place to work
Lorry Driver Class 1 (Former Employee) - Warrington - October 22, 2022
There is bad management, if you have a problem during the job they don’t answer the phone , the units are new but they are untidy and sometimes unsafe.

Flexibility to plan your own day
Parcel Courier (Current Employee) - Leeds - October 19, 2022
The best part about the job is meeting new people and being active. The hardest part is not knowing the number of parcels you have, and therefore the pay is up and down, as you don't have a set wage or set working hours.

Rubbish
Hermes Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Sheffield - October 17, 2022
Worked at hermes was not for me and probably same for most drivers as pay is not really worth it. At times parcel volumes was so high it made driving dangerous and nearly impossible as you can't really see nothing due to volume.

Undervalued by upper management
HGV Driver class 2 (Former Employee) - Newmarket - October 14, 2022
Culture of lies to get people on board and no support from any managers when they mess up, costing you money. They take no care with customers packages. Encourage drivers to lie to sub depots about why they don’t get their stuff on time. When the managers mess up they expect drivers to handball masses of parcels into small vans and deliver to subs at the end of their shift. Happened to me several times.

Disgusting rules that only apply when they feel like it
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Motherwell - October 9, 2022
Absolutely shocking environment to work in the job and customers were great. The management shocking. Old school bully mentality. Even if your great at your round problems arise on a daily basis. A lot more hours than advertised. I honestly recommend looking elsewhere if it's stabil secure employment you seek. Vans are not road worthy and you will get points for all the ignored basic infringements. Stay away.

They Rip you off
Courier Driver (Former Employee) - Cardiff - October 5, 2022
Hermes are users of people and will rip you off. First of all you’ll be employed as self employed which means you will pay for everything and you won’t get holiday pay, sickness pay or maternity leave. If you risk taking a day off in an emergency, you risk your round being taken off you giving you no income and you’ll find you’ll have very little employment rights. They say as self employed you can deliver in your own time as long as parcels are delivered by the due day, but their managers will be constantly ringing you. They will often pay you for smaller parcels when you can see it’s obviously a large parcel which you should get more money for, or heavy parcels regardless of size. You can raise a dispute but realistically you have no time to measure the size or have the facility to weigh the parcel then go on line to raise a dispute. Also they pay unfairly, as some drivers get more money for delivering the same size parcels as someone else. This is because they try and pay you as minimal as possible, going through a high turnover of staff. If your a desperate, gullible person who wants to work for an unorganised company that constantly rip you off on paying you for delivered parcels, that expect you to soak up all the cost incurred on your vehicle and cell phone. That expect you to load and sort your parcels outside in the pouring rain as the base has no loading bays or shelters, then this is the job for you!! Otherwise Avoid this company at all costs!!! All costs!!! ‘Cos it will cost you

Worst company
Depot Operative (Former Employee) - Crawley - October 5, 2022
Management are unprofessional. No manual handling training (quite a few work place injuries not being reported). Overall treatment of staff. "Don't like it then leave". Good at messing up the pay and Rounding down the hours you've done.
Pros
Some of the staff are great, and pays well
Cons
No sick pay

Parcel shop driver (Former Employee) - Crewe - October 5, 2022
Worked as a parcel shop delivery and collection driver. Was a lot more parcels than anticipated often too many to fit on the size of van I had been allocated which made life difficult. Other than that work was fine but long hours

Stressful
Courier Driver (Former Employee) - Manchester - September 8, 2022
Good for extra income but wouldn't solely rely on it. Great for those who needs to work around school runs too. However, pay is quite poor and very disorganised. They treat you decent until you want days off.
Pros
Flexible times
Cons
Poor pay
