It was stressful.
Courier Driver (Former Employee) - Forfar - December 22, 2022
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedIt was very difficult to find places, postcodes never took you to the right place. Pay was fine if you could get all the parcels delivered. Started at 10 and finished at 10 at night.

The WORST company ever
Courier Driver (Former Employee) - Stoke-on-Trent - January 28, 2023
Please, never work for these people, stressful atmosphere, you are pushed to do jobs at your own risk. Management especially at Burslem depot awful. Rather die than work for them again. Never, never, never. And as a bonus, still owe me my holiday pay 6 months after I finished contract with them. wow

Awful company
Courier Driver (Current Employee) - England - November 20, 2022
This company are awful to work for. They take away bonuses,do not support you if you have any personal problems. They do not care about their couriers

Tip; Get your own round and stick.
Courier Driver (Former Employee) - Bromsgrove - November 5, 2022
I spent 4 years with my own round and I loved it. I loved the people and they loved me. I looked after them and they looked after me. If you are considering delivering for Hermes/Evri I strongly recommend you get a single round and stick to it. Do not offer to help others as you will be taken advantage of. The company will endeavour to pay you as little as possible in any way they can. For example if you deliver a 20kg “heavy package” they will very often process the parcel as a 20g “packet“. If you’re willing to fight for what you’re owed then this job is wonderful as you have your very own community of customers who you will connect with and become good friends with.

They Rip you off
Courier Driver (Former Employee) - Cardiff - October 5, 2022
Hermes are users of people and will rip you off. First of all you’ll be employed as self employed which means you will pay for everything and you won’t get holiday pay, sickness pay or maternity leave. If you risk taking a day off in an emergency, you risk your round being taken off you giving you no income and you’ll find you’ll have very little employment rights. They say as self employed you can deliver in your own time as long as parcels are delivered by the due day, but their managers will be constantly ringing you. They will often pay you for smaller parcels when you can see it’s obviously a large parcel which you should get more money for, or heavy parcels regardless of size. You can raise a dispute but realistically you have no time to measure the size or have the facility to weigh the parcel then go on line to raise a dispute. Also they pay unfairly, as some drivers get more money for delivering the same size parcels as someone else. This is because they try and pay you as minimal as possible, going through a high turnover of staff. If your a desperate, gullible person who wants to work for an unorganised company that constantly rip you off on paying you for delivered parcels, that expect you to soak up all the cost incurred on your vehicle and cell phone. That expect you to load and sort your parcels outside in the pouring rain as the base has no loading bays or shelters, then this is the job for you!! Otherwise Avoid this company at all costs!!! All costs!!! ‘Cos it will cost you

Stressful
Courier Driver (Former Employee) - Manchester - September 8, 2022
Good for extra income but wouldn't solely rely on it. Great for those who needs to work around school runs too. However, pay is quite poor and very disorganised. They treat you decent until you want days off.
Pros
Flexible times
Cons
Poor pay

Company deserves their bad reputation
Courier Driver (Current Employee) - Thetford - August 8, 2022
No training, no support, nobody responds to you in an emergency. Very poor. They keep changing the goal posts, changing my round, deciding parcels are no longer delivered to my home.

Flexible place to work
Courier Driver (Former Employee) - Motherwell - July 25, 2022
Payrates are a discrace, they start at 36pence then you get some at 46p or 60p,every other company pays 90-£1,if this company paid what every other company pays then it would be a great job,but the company is too greedy and only think of there profits and not the actual couriers that are keeping the place running

Annoying.
Courier Van Driver (Former Employee) - Shrewsbury - June 12, 2022
Stay clear of this company unless you enjoy a frustrating and stressful life. You will receive zero training and if you ask for a pay review as you are entitled to do, you will be told "No, if you can't do it for this money, we can find someone who can". Since I have left the company, I have been told by a current courier, that the rates have been cut again. Not a very good experience generally.

No too bad
Courier / Multi-drop Driver (Former Employee) - Glasgow - June 9, 2022
Hi guys Hermes is good place to work for young people or first delivery job. Poor salary but easy job. Some days you can look at after the cost of petrol and how long it takes, about £5 an hour. Well not worth it unless they just give you an easy round which they never do, they go to the ones that have been there for years

Unbearably underpaid
Courier Driver (Former Employee) - Stockport - June 1, 2022
Paying for your own petrol and mileage everyday is frustrating enough but the pay is shocking anyway. You are paid by parcel but it is pennies. And some of the routes have you delivering on A roads with places impossible to park meaning time between each delivery is long. Some days you can look at after the cost of petrol and how long it takes, about £5 an hour. Well not worth it unless they just give you an easy round which they never do, they go to the ones that have been there for years. Not worth it
Pros
Freedom of being out and about
Cons

Pay isn’t sufficient
Courier/Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Measham - May 24, 2022
You are paid per parcel which varies for each area which doesn’t make sense. The money isn’t enough when adding in running costs of own personal vehicle

It is what you make out of it
Courier/Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Scotland - April 20, 2022
It can be good money but you do work hard for it. Best to start around November and you'll get a better rate for peak. Then refuse to lower your rate.
