Drivers suffer for poor management
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Ellesmere Port - January 5, 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedEasy to get the job and decent infill while looking for another. The company take a lot of shortcuts and don't bother with training or points of contact. Be prepared to work things out for yourself . You end up being the middle man for complaints you have no control over. Pay can be decent if you get a good round and know how to work the round in your favour on pay review. Targets are impossible when covering a round you don't know.
Pros
Flexible, no qualifications needed, regular customers make your day
Cons
Poor management and work environment

Job claims you are self employed but you have to start when they want you to start and do what they tell you, you spend most of your wages on fuel and maintaining for your vehicle and acctualy end up worse of. They will give you the worse routes to cover with no help. Absolute con of a job avoid at all costs

Amazon Delivery Associate (Former Employee) - Miami, FL - December 26, 2022
What is the best part of working at the company? Awesome managers and CEO. Even when the job got tough, the company owner and managers always made you feel welcome and appreciated. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The most stressful thing is the delivery routes given by Amazon, which could be poorly planned by Amazon's logistics. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Welcoming and family-like. You always feel appreciated and seen. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Clock-in, stand up meeting with managers, load delivery vehicles at warehouse loading bay, drive to first stop and commence route, lunch break for 30 minutes when I choose, 2 15-minute breaks on the clock (when I choose), return to warehouse when route is done, and park vehicle, clockout

Terrible place to work
Multi Drop Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - Dundee / Riverside - December 26, 2022
Worst pl ever to work pay is ridiculous less than 50p for some parcels.Have to load in rain and snow,no help from management and your not entirely self employed as you have to set eta's which means you are having to let people know when you are coming, but when I went to school self employed meant you can do what you want when you want,it used to be 2hour ETA but now it is 1 and if you don't deliver in that time you lose any bonus you might get,if you have over 180 parcels a day you lose track of the time slot

Cons
Not enough pay

Delivery driver
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Anglesey - November 14, 2022
I would not recommend any to use this company as it all about them. Please look somewhere else to work you get treated like parcel. Most drivers are self employed

Rubbish
Hermes Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Sheffield - October 17, 2022
Worked at hermes was not for me and probably same for most drivers as pay is not really worth it. At times parcel volumes was so high it made driving dangerous and nearly impossible as you can't really see nothing due to volume.

Disgusting rules that only apply when they feel like it
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Motherwell - October 9, 2022
Absolutely shocking environment to work in the job and customers were great. The management shocking. Old school bully mentality. Even if your great at your round problems arise on a daily basis. A lot more hours than advertised. I honestly recommend looking elsewhere if it's stabil secure employment you seek. Vans are not road worthy and you will get points for all the ignored basic infringements. Stay away.

Poor management
Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - Bristol - August 25, 2022
Doesn’t care about their staff. Would get rid of you at a drop of a hat. No compassion. Poorly paid. No fuel allowance. No pay rise. After the pandemic they made all couriers take a pay cut!!!

Fast paced, unrealistic expectations
Multi Drop Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Rossendale - August 23, 2022
Too many parcels and they are in random order, takes an hour or more to sort and be able to plan route. Route system they provide is often not efficient.
Pros
Work on your own
Cons
Long hours, poor management, poor systems in place, no benefits

Pay is low
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Birmingham, West Midlands - August 3, 2022
Terrible pay structure. I would never work for these again. With fuel prices going up the parcel rate as gone down. Management always lie about extra payments.

Fun place to work but earning is not fantastic and you get paid monthly.
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Colchester - July 14, 2022
Start about 10am at the depot. Allocated a route. Collect your deliveries. . Scan the delivery and sort them out in order and off you go to deliver. The time you spent to deliver totally depends on how well you know the area, how fit and quick you are and the number of delivery you have. Really a fun if it is not raining. Ok place to work if there is no better job around. Personal expenses like putting fuel and maintenance of your car can be a burden as you are paid very low rate for this. Hardworking people around.Polite management but take home is not fantastic.. The hours your work depends on you. Apparently the more hours you work the more money you take home. Their payment rate is not really good for inputs.

Productive
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Portsmouth, Hampshire - July 6, 2022
The positive sides are the fact you work on your own mostly. Pay is dependent on how much parcels you deliver, no money given toward fuel. Long hours if you actually want to make some money. I worked for 1 month. It's pay to work. Supervisor was good, but the payment in the end was just to fill up the car.

Do not work here
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Cambridge, Cambridgeshire - May 14, 2022
Pay is dependent on how much parcels you deliver, no money given towards fuel even if you chase them and ask for some. Long hours if you actually want to make some money. Lorry with parcels always late to come to depot and you end up waiting and don’t get paid for that time.

short time at depot, short hours delivering depending on amount of parcels
Parcel Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - Skegness - May 13, 2022
i still work at hermes and i will say the positive sides are the fact you work on your own mostly and if you get on quickly you can finish early, bad points is terrible management, you ask questions but get fobbed off, they offer you work on the wrong days when they know youre busy, then blame you for their mistakes… they dont give a dam about the health ( physical or mental ) of the drivers, you are just a number! the only thing managers care about is getting the parcels out there no matter who much blood is spilt! appalling attitude to workers, no guarantee of work, advice, dont work for this awful company! apply for one that will actually employ you!

Leave well alone
Multi Drop Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Carluke - May 9, 2022
Fuel and insurance costs £4000 a year and you must have your own vehicle and up to date smartphone to run their software - all that before you start delivering parcels for which you get paid 40p - 75p a parcel. That’s a lot of parcels to deliver before you make any money. Management are worse than useless - they only care about getting parcels delivered.
