Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Deployed as site engineer in one of the client. You will be the face of IBM to the very demanding client. You will learn a lot but prefer for busy hands on work on site. On call 24/7 anytime of the night you might go to site for troubleshooting.

Extremely busy

Sound like a prestige company but many work processes. Daily work involves a lot of meeting which take up a lot of time, left you limited time to do your ground work. Work load progressively added w/o knowing. Definitely no work life balance

Pros

Nil

Cons

Long hours. Many meetings. Night calls. No work life balance

Avoid it like the plague

Through the hardship - I bonded with a few good fellows …. Despite being tussled between partners and clients, I learned to endure and survive in a toxic environment

Productive and fun place to work, lot of learning opportunities are there

Great place to work with more self learning tools. Acquiring new skills is possible. Grab the opportunity when it comes. Well planned structure for individual growth

Management politics at manufacturing sector

Most manager doesn’t have much to do but some favouritism in this sector. Seems like Manufacturing sectors were more scared of bossesand highly political . Too many managers than employees.

Pros

Productive but competitive workplace, work life integrated

A stressful environment with some level of internal politics which may not be suitable for any individual especially for those who like to contribute to work and not looking for promotion to higher level.

Cohesive, collaborative, fast paced, friendly, high performance culture

IBM is a people oriented company, and constantly remind each employee of trust and personal responsibility, and integrity. We need to refresh the annual business conduct guideline education. IBM HR and functional management continually encourage all employees to increase their professional skill sets via eLearning. Every employee has to complete a minimum of 40 hours on-line learning per year. Quarterly performance checkpoint is systematically tracked in a HR tool.

Pros

work from home, management directed time-off

Cons

multi tasking, tight project schedules

A company focus mostly on results/numbers driven culture.

IBM gives the the employee the chance of experience new roles a part of career advancement. Most enjoyable part : Colleagues workplace culture : heavily numbers driven most of the time management : been fortunate under quite a few understanding bosses

Fun workplace

Typical day: Each day is never the same. What I learned: R&R are clearly defined. Management: Would be great if management style is changed to a more open climate. Workplace culture: Generally decent and inclusive. Hardest part: Different school of thoughts. Enjoyable part: Camaraderie.

Na

I have been working at IBM full-time for more than 10 years Pros Great Place to work, Flexibility at work Women empowerment Work is challenging and satisfying Cons IBM keeps cutting costs at the employee's expense, reducing or eliminating reimbursement for legitimate business expenses. Employee recognition has been declining year to year for quite a while. Advice to Management More pay

Very self driven oriented company

You need to be able to up sell yourself, such as your abilities and skills. Must be able to talk and be visible to the management. Be proactive and find the right stage to demonstrate your competence.

Not a positive work experience, very internally and process focussed

IBM still lives in a different era. Highly bureaucratice and hierarchial. The work culture and job definitions are very constrained. The senior management is isolated.

Pros

work from home

Cons

calls at odd hours
