House of Cards

Toxic culture, does not care about their employees. You are just a headcount they want to get rid of but refuse to pay you for retrenchment, so management will try to manage you out by playing games with you. Heartless and cold.

Average working condition and pay

Salary can be low if you don’t negotiate with the HR, so always negotiate for a higher one. Salary increment is also quite low for contract workers, need to give 2 months notice before resigning.

Extremely busy

Sound like a prestige company but many work processes. Daily work involves a lot of meeting which take up a lot of time, left you limited time to do your ground work. Work load progressively added w/o knowing. Definitely no work life balance

Pros

Nil

Cons

Long hours. Many meetings. Night calls. No work life balance

Lot to learn things but lot of work

Deployed as site engineer in one of the client. You will be the face of IBM to the very demanding client. You will learn a lot but prefer for busy hands on work on site. On call 24/7 anytime of the night you might go to site for troubleshooting.

Avoid it like the plague

Through the hardship - I bonded with a few good fellows …. Despite being tussled between partners and clients, I learned to endure and survive in a toxic environment

Great place to work with more self learning tools. Acquiring new skills is possible. Grab the opportunity when it comes. Well planned structure for individual growth

Productive but competitive workplace, work life integrated

A stressful environment with some level of internal politics which may not be suitable for any individual especially for those who like to contribute to work and not looking for promotion to higher level.

Cohesive, collaborative, fast paced, friendly, high performance culture

IBM is a people oriented company, and constantly remind each employee of trust and personal responsibility, and integrity. We need to refresh the annual business conduct guideline education. IBM HR and functional management continually encourage all employees to increase their professional skill sets via eLearning. Every employee has to complete a minimum of 40 hours on-line learning per year. Quarterly performance checkpoint is systematically tracked in a HR tool.

Pros

work from home, management directed time-off

Cons

multi tasking, tight project schedules
