No Career Prospects, A Place for Retirement
Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) - North-East Singapore - March 12, 2023
People who last here are those who will retire here and their priority is stable source of income, doesn't matter the rest. The leave, benefits scheme and payscale is considered above average.

Best psychiatric nursing experience
Staff Nurse (Former Employee) - Singapore - July 26, 2019
The working facility/institution is one of the best and most progressive in Asia as per statistics. JCI standards! Salary and benefits are unremarkable. Staff growth are in place- trainings, seminars, continuing education, promotions. Patients/clients are taken cared off well as it is patient-centered hospital.

Overall review at IMH
Nursing student (Former Employee) - Singapore - July 23, 2019
I have learned so much during my time in the Institute of Mental Health. It has shaped my perception towards the mentally ill. I learned that there is a rising stigma against mental health and no proper education regarding mental health. The society are mostly conservative, perceiving the mentally ill as crazy or lunatic. However, the mentally ill are human beings with a underlying health problem which affects their cognitive thinking, perception of life and social skills. Through my internship in IMH, i have learned patience, understanding and empathy towards the mentally ill. Regardless of how they function their way of life, they are still human beings who deserve to be recognized, respected and loved in the society.

Fulfilling job
Senior Medical Social Worker (Current Employee) - Singapore - November 14, 2018
Every day at work is a different and wonderful day. Colleagues are fun loving and supporting making work fun. The most difficult part of the job is the stigmatization faced due to societal view on person's with mental illness. It is through journeying with patients and their families that provides meaning to the job.

An inclusive and caring workplace environment that values the human touch
Senior Occupational Therapist (Current Employee) - Singapore - September 1, 2017
Work at IMH differs depending on the area of work that you are posted. A typical day includes Multi-disciplinary team meetings to triage referred patients/clients, assessments of referred patients/clients, presentation of case formulation, arrangement and conduction of therapy sessions for referred patients. Work can be rewarding because of the supportive nature of colleagues and the privillege of being able to make a difference to the mental health of young people and their families by providing timely interventions.
Pros
Greater work-life balance as compared to many other tertiary hospitals in Singapore
Cons
Limitations in terms of career progression
