Reviews about Salary & Benefits for Nurse Coordinator in International SOS

Passionate, Comfortable and Enjoyable

• a typical day at work: I speak to the clients, triage medical situations, provide any kind os assistance, give medical advise, provide medical referrals, draft email medical updates to clients, communicate with Doctors and Nurses to obtain medical updates/information of patients, manage medical equipment room, source for needed medical teams for evacuation/repatriation cases, work closely with customer service executives for logistical and authorization issues. • what you learned: I've learned is persistence, not to give up too soon and develop a professional bond with my colleagues and manager with a sense of personal touch where I respect every individual • management: My manager/bosses was a good combination of professionalism and their personal touch. Good leaders with strong communication skills. They always motivated me, always provided me with helpful case direction, guidance and feedback. • your co-workers: I had an excellent professional relationship with my co-workers, Everyone assisted one another, worked as a team. I made many good friends for life, who today can vouch for me on a professional basis.“ • the hardest part of the job: I feel that finding enough time to spend with my family friends is the hardest part of my job. I love my work but many times I have to work weekends, late evenings and be on-call 24/7. • the most enjoyable part of the job: The best part of my job is without a doubt the people that I work with. Everyone is always ready to help and encourage one another. That has definitely helped me become a more confident person. -

Moderate work environment

Nurses are given more task to do along with triage patient your also doing the billing, data collection, and are on time restraint with each call. The benefits are great and the hours. The job is simple but time restraint make it hard. In order to give your enough time it doesn’t work.

Not a healthy work environment for nurses

The best part of this job was assisting the the military members. The nurses are very professional, compassionate and hardworking. This is a very high pace call center like environment, with a lot of nursing and clerical documentation involved. Nurses are constantly rushed to pick up the phone to answer a call (if does not matter if you 5+ open cases with unfinished documentation) you will be told to get on the phone. Every year there is more work to do but there is no monetary compensation. Nurses frequently have to stay passed their shift to complete cases. Some of the operational staff treat the RN's in a very unprofessional and condescending manner. Nurses are burnout and struggle to provide good quality service. Unfortunately they are focusing in quantity based in number of cases completed based in daily #s (which is unrealistic 1 case can take your whole day). The nurse manager is approachable, and has organized the team. It would be helpful if the nurse manager is more active in case management. Too many changes to be implemented in a short period of time with no proper training. The Medical Director needs to dedicate time to study and learn the department policies. The DON has small interaction with the nurses and also needs to learn the department specifics. The nurses really need to be shown appreciation , they are wonderful. Every day as a nurse you will learn something new, and will not get bored. High nurse turnover, and there is no plan for nurses retention.

Professional & Friendly Nurses, Free lunches, 1 hour lunch, multicultural environment.

Very disorganized, lack of communication, need improvement in leadership
