Bad management, Bad Teamwork
Intern Lab Analyst (Former Employee) - Jurong Island - June 14, 2022
Everyone looks down on you even if you are new. Bad management as there is frequent OT due to lack of manpower. No work Life Balance. Even as an Intern, I feel like I work like a Full Timer. I am a Student but I feel like I am forced to do OT. 1 day rest out of the 3 day rotation shift due to OT. Very bad culture. No Team Bonding. 24/7 serious and on the ball. No welfare

Too much OT
Lab Analyst (Former Employee) - Jurong Island - March 22, 2022
Too much sample and you are expected to figure it out yourself without much training. Senior are nice but not the management Very fast paced which company only focus on profit, not the welfare of the staff
Pros
Can’t think of it other than shift staff being nice
Cons
Long hour and tedious and they expect result. Training is only partially

Too much OT as there are not enough manpower, welfare is not in place as well. Definitely don't recommend joining this company if you're looking to have work-life balance.
Pros
OT transport claims
Cons
Long hours, too much OT

A place where you learn something new everyday, which enhanced my personal capacity to perform better.
Bunker Inspections Survey / Superintendent (Former Employee) - Singapore - June 24, 2019
Being here for more than a decade, i learnt various things, from people management, project management, teamwork, problem solving, negotiation skills. Hours were odd, but i thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience, with a great management which supported and groomed me to be a better employee, and also brought out the best in me, allowing me to perform at my optimal level.
Pros
Very good protocols, which brings out discipline. Good work ethics
Cons
Odd and long hours, although the management was very understanding.

Great job with poor management team
Assistant Manager/Manager (Former Employee) - Singapore - April 8, 2019
Poor management who are not from the inspection industry. Expect employees to reach unrealistic KPI.
Upper management started to become overbearing and bringing more and more tasks that were outside of the job description. They attempted to squeeze these tasks in among our regular duties while putting pressure on us to meet our deadlines. Our ordinary tasks took a varying amount of time to complete each day due to various complications, but they insisted upon standardising things that were beyond our control.
Pros
Good Benefits
Cons
Poor management

Five day work week is great. Management is good and understanding. Workplace culture is good. However, the job assigned currently doesn't match my desired salary.

Working in Intertek Softline Singapore is challenging
Chemist (Former Employee) - singapore - January 10, 2018
I work in Singapore Intertek Softline business line and I
Pros:
Company welfare is relatively good as compared to competitor. They offered medication welfare, dental welfare, performance bonus,13th month bonus (pro-rated if you did not complete full calendar year), transport allowance if you need to work overtime and various incentive if your entity are performed well.
21 days annual leaves for management and executive level and 14 annual leave for non-executive level.
The initial salary package might be a bit lower than market expectation. However, if you are request for better salary package and it is reasonable, they are still willing to give. Overall, salary package is relatively okay.
Cons:
The softline division Intertek is extremely hardworking. Please expect to work on (close to all) weekday night and (some) weekend. Employees are putting their best effort to finish all the tasks. If you are executive or above, you are still expected to work overtime on weekday and weekend without overtime pay.
The technical knowledge of the team is lower than average. The quality system is less systematic. Making improvement requires plenty of efforts as veteran management is conservative. To work effectively in this division, you should blend into the company culture and work on what the company expects you to do with great precaution. You need to think whether the particular task is positively contributed to society before executing it.
Employees are conservative and protective. Be mindful and be considerate when working there.
Enjoy the challenges and -
Pros
Welfare, salary package
Cons
Poor company culture, lower quality system, conservative management

Lifeless
Laboratory Analyst (Former Employee) - Singapore - October 19, 2017
Shift work, people there are immature, no life because they will notify you last minute to come work during your off days. No time to rest as they expect you to keep working.

workplace - fun and enjoyable
Assistant Laboratory Coordinator (Current Employee) - Clementi - May 31, 2017
Shifting job at Intertek is the same as normal shifting jobs. Work is loaded due to volume of samples but since you are working with your team, work will be easier especially if you are enjoying each others company.
You wont feel uneasy or uncomfortable even though you're foreigner because people will treat you good, they are not racist or whatever. They (management and staff) will treat you fairly.
After 5pm, we can listen to soft music to relieve from stress.
Pros
free transport for shifting staffs
Cons
work on sunday if needed (but double pay)

fun and independent learning
Laboratory Technician (Former Employee) - Jurong Island - March 20, 2017
I was posted under Quality Assurance department as a QA intern therefore, my jobscope requires me to perform calibration on various equipment/instrument/glassware. For instance, performing water check for Karl Fischer on daily basis and monitoring all the room temperature int he laboratory, performing safety inspection in the laboratory along with the HSE department, sample preparation and standardisation on a monthly basis. I get along well with my colleague as they are mostly easy going and fun people to work with. The hardest part of the job is the fast pace environment where I have to be independent and perform my task quickly. The most enjoyable part of the job is that I get to learn new technical skills and apply what my school has taught me.
Pros
the working environment
Cons
limited choices of food during lunch
