Fast paced
Audit Senior (Former Employee) - Singapore City Hall - June 3, 2022
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedIt can be fast paced company but it can be rewarding. The work at times can be tough but it was also where I had learnt the most. Go in with an open mind.

Fast paced but lacking direction
Audit Senior Associate (Former Employee) - Singapore - April 18, 2022
Upper management have no real direction. They were dishonest about the financial state of the company. They could not decide what departments should be focused on, and the tough decisions they made only served to drive employees away.

Long Hours
Audit Associate (Former Employee) - Singapore - March 1, 2022
- Your plotting decides your experience - Long working hours, average go home at 12am throughout peak period for half a year - Repetitive work - Low Bonus
Pros
- Non micro-managing environment - Fexibility in taking leave - Downtime during non peak period
Cons
Long hours

Dependant on engagement and seniors/managers/partners. standard audit progression.
Like all audit firms, its fast-paced with deadlines to meet. Nothing much to say as most should know what they are getting into in audit. Has decent measures to try and incorporate wlb in KPMG
Cons
long hours

Opportunity to work with different teammates, often young and same age group.
Assurance associate (Former Employee) - Singapore - February 7, 2022
Good firm to build up experience in the audit and accounting profession. Expect little to no work life balance for any of the Big4 firms. Yearly progression and competitive pay.
Pros
OT meal claims, great experience building
Cons
Long hours, lack of work life balance

Typical big4
Senior Associate (Former Employee) - Singapore - September 1, 2021
Work extremely long hours. Luck of the draw whether you get a good team or manager. Some managers and bosses are very unappreciative of your work. Ratings are also not fair as it depends on the project assigned to you
Pros
Great colleagues
Cons
Long hours

Toxic culture dominated by Indians and aussies (with infighting amongst them)
Toxic culture - small groups that fight against each other (and amongst themselves). Need to lick axx of / drink heavily with partners and directors at parties for career advancement. And employees pay for their own computer screens. Mediocre work quality. Office has not been renovate since 1970s. Basically all about profits for the partners

Typical audit experience
Senior Auditor (Current Employee) - Singapore - September 16, 2020
Joining as a fresh graduate, training will be provided and accounting foundation will be built throughout engagements. Generally pleasant colleagues to work with. Expect late nights and deadline, as usual in the audit industry.
Pros
Build audit and accounting foundation
Cons
Long hours and stressful

underpaid overworked
Audit function (year 2020): you know the meme that 'if you do a good job, you get to do other people's job too'? yup. thats KPMG; incompetence gets rewarded. hardworking competent individuals suffer with heavy workload and are slowly decreasing in numbers due to this reason (all are leaving the firm) KPMG SG is slowly being overtaken by mid joiners from different firms and malaysia, with these experienced hires bringing in their 'face time' culture (where online = hardworking), without getting anything done. These mid-joiners are diluting the friendly culture KPMG once had. you will have to protect yourself a lot, as there are a lot of finger pointing when anything goes wrong. there is no clear line on what your job scope is, reiterating again that if you show a bit of competence, you basically just do everything. despite audit being essential, partners are cutting our pay in the form of deferred promotion. there is no clear direction of what their response given the covid-19 pandemic. partners themselves say that the audit function is doing well, but then conveniently said that they are not 'meeting targets' when deciding to defer promotion.
Pros
nothing
Cons
long hours, underpaid, overworked, unappreciative

It was an excellent experience working under KPMG. My seniors are very helpful they thought so many things to me from them I learned a lot from them.
There was a very beautiful lunch area with a snooker table and a PS4 game to chill.
Every 1-3 Monday 1$ beer I never forgot :)
haha, nice place to work.

Poor employment practises. Avoid!
Senior Associate (Former Employee) - Singapore - July 2, 2020
Poor off-boarding processes where bosses ask you to leave early from notice period to save money.
Poor promotion prospects in the year. No business in the company. Bonuses delayed. Hired employees asked to delay employment.
Boring dinosaur slow company in adopting technology. Slow internet processes. No one wants to decide.
Pros
Leave can accumulate but can't use
Cons
Poor pay compared to other roles outside. No appreciation of staff

Competitive environment
Assistant Manager (Current Employee) - Raffles - June 3, 2020
KPMG Singapore has a competitive environment. It assists in growth but at the same time could be overwhelming to some. The firm does not focus on industry specialization as well

Good advancement
Good place to advance in your career, it is easy to get a promotion every year. You would be in a good place to succeed if you are able to take stress and long working hours.

Good pay but bad leadership
- The pay scale, staff benefit and physical office environment are above average.
- The working culture is less ideal.
- The leaders often demonstrate inconsistencies in providing direction to the team and their actions don’t match their words. They are driven by ego.

Good place to improve accounting and auditing knowledge
Audit Senior (Current Employee) - Singapore - March 26, 2020
Overall, working in KPMG is good. While I highly valued my time at my previous company, there are no longer opportunities for growth that align with my career goals.
