It looks great on the surface but is the worst kind of company to work at. It is full of people who are truly only there for themselves. If you have even a tiny sense of work ethic and want to be on a great team, this is NOT the company for you. If you are a woman, you need to be the kind that hates other woman to get anywhere in the company. Horrible, horrible, horrible.
Poor management, schedule, terrible cGMP
There is little to no room for advancement within this company unless you brown nose. Pay is good but not the best and definitely not enough to compensate for what you have to deal with daily. Turn over is very high and all shifts and departments are almost always understaffed. I really don't have much great to say about this company except that they give good yearly bonuses. Seems like everyone has a mental break as some point working here.
Lonza asks employees to perform more than the displayed job description. Requiring you to do that of the next level/promotion in order to be promoted. However, this opens the door to being exposed to several facets of the biotech industry. Allowing you to hone in on the aspect that truly fascinates yourself.
Lonza has many dedicated professionals that are dedicated to producing the highest quality active pharmaceutical ingredients in the industry and I am proud to contribute to a company that puts the betterment of humanity first.
After spending time in Cell Culture Mammalian (CHO) at a previous company it was nice to learn something new Lonza gave me the opportunity to learn CSS (central services) which included dispensing, Buffer Prep, Media Prep, Glass wash, Equipment Prep and Autoclave. After spending two years in CSS was moved to Suit 3 where the clarification and purification of Goat Milk was performed, was then moved to suite 4 to manufacture vaccine for influenza strains working on the full process for inoculating the shake flask to final fill. this was a microbial process.
able to learn micobail Manufacturing
Lonza has given me a broad knowledge base for moving on to other oppourtunities in biotech. They seem to be a very top heavy company with very little movment upwards as time served seems to be the most important aspect of promotions and not how well you work. You can become pigieon holed very easily if you are good at what you do and they will not let you move on because of it. Pay is below average but the benefits and time off are very good.
