Productive and fun workplace

Not for the serious folks like in banking sector as it can appear to be a fun workplace. Occassionally great food treats on festive and staff recognitiom by the company. Had pay reduction during covid but that was due to avoid further job losses.

They are eager to displace

Little to no room for advancement as old staff taking up position yet doesn’t do as much work as we do. HR low ball you while pay high to recruit new.

Ok

Productive and fun workplace. Not recommended if your background is from government or banking work industry, as you may find it difficult to adapt to hospitality culture ie fun, loud culture.

Pros

Pre covid - free lunches/drinks on fridays and associate appreciation week

Cons

May take long time to get promoted again depends on your department, No bonus and pay reduction during covid period

Fun Workplace

Marriott International is a great place to start a career. There are lot of opportunities to grow, career wise. You can also opt to work at different locations or at other properties.

Good place to work at

Fun and friendly environment, fast paced job. i learnt a lot about guest relationship management, and customer service. I also learnt about multi-tasking and always being on your toes to ensure 100% customer satisfaction.

*Responsible in operational & executive of “specially-hosted”for VVIP such as Head of State & Celebrities. *Assist the Executive Chef to in-charge of all aspects of Chinese Cuisine within the hotel F&B outlets, BEO meetings & Banquet facilities. *Responsible fully for the planning & execution of all Chinese Banquet events such as weddings, meetings & social gatherings. *Responsible for food costing ,duty rooster & leave administration. *Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene & observe all guidelines pertaining to NEA & HACCP standard. *To do training with ideas of the cooks in Chinese cuisine & organizing of Chinese food promotions. *Regulates temperature of combi ovens, cooking wok, Chinese barbecue roasting oven, grills, steams & other cooking equipments. *High motivation, ability to lead a team & quality fast pace environment.

Company Culture

Hotel is great and people are fantastic however getting manpower in SG is tough. Great location and product and management is great. Need stable team however, which is the norm in Singapore,

Good direction from dept head and director of team, good place to start

Good place to start for a sales role, see an overview of different possible career progression in the hotel sales role. Fixed working hours in an international brand

Busy workplace

It was good that i got to rotate around different jobs to expose myself to the different types of job scope. The managers were mostly encouraging and helpful. However, the shift work in hotel is tiring especially when you get back to back shift where you end at 11pm and start work at 7am the next day. However, there are alot of employee benefits such as eating at the restaurants there.
