MUFG is still very much Japanese bank despite wanting to be a global bank.

The Japanese culture is very strong and conservative in this bank. I worked there for 11 year plus and there was not much career progression at all. Management is not an open communication style. It’s also difficult to move internally between departments unless you are Japanese staff. The work life balance is not bad.

A place of beuracacy

Protocols are more important than substance. There is no urgency in getting things done. Obsession with meetings presentations and reporting. Consensus is important in n decision making.

Depends on your luck on the report manager

Bad culture cos all are have to follow Japanese work culture and Japanese staff requests. If you have a good reporting manager you will be easy to work with. However if you don't have good luck, you will have very difficulty to deal with.

my Japanese management is good to employees. I had the great support from my management during pregnancy. I was allowed to leave the office whenever my baby was sick. very kind and understanding.

Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi UFJ is a Japanese bank and thus being on time for work is fairly important in the company.
