Stressful environment & not so fun place to work

Working in NTU is so structured based. Management should look more into staff welfare. Staff wellbeing needs to be reviewed. Staffs to have more voice

Pros

Having on room

Cons

Feelings of unappreciated

A place wth no work life balanced anymore

I used to work Ntu in a comfortable pace. But recent years the management has changed. No replacement for staffs who left. Especially for support staffs. But ironically they keep hiring management level staffs. Think twice before jump in.

Relaxed workplace. Flexible work hours and choice to work from home depending on research areas or PI/professor's preference. Fun co workers, but experience may vary depending on individual labs.

Direction/ stress levels depends on individual PI

Cons

Old school, poor leadership team, poor compensation

Would strongly ask that you reconsider if you are intending to apply for a role with the University. Poor leadership team as the employee population is huge and if you don’t get notice, you will find yourself not having opportunity to progress, promotion and salary increment is very minimal, likewise bonus which is miserable.Old school practices as management don’t walk the talk, especially during this pandemic times, this University is dictating all employees to report 100% back in office while another local University is much more progressive in enabling remote working for its employees.

Pros

If you are not interested to progress and just wants a stable place to stay for your retirement, this is perhaps the place.

Cons

Poor increment and bonuses, poor benefits, no family day or d&d, poor accessible area, poor political culture

Bureaucratic Environment

Bureaucratic Environment, non collaborative environment. Salary increment very little. Very slow promotion and not based on merit, but based kn year of service.

Not recommended for the young and energetic

Depending on the department which you are in, work pace and culture is very different. This might be a good place for administrative staff but technical/engineering staff are not valued as much. Compensation wise, it is not as competitive. Many staff from all levels have left and unable to find replacements largely due to aggressive hiring by other companies. Unless you have a good number of years of working experience, you will find salary progression and promotion very unattractive. There are some good benefits though. Medical and dental benefits are reasonable. Parents and childcare leave etc. This is a good place if you have young kids which requires you to knock off from work on time and not have last minute meetings etc. No one will question you on your maternity leave. However, if you are young, energetic and wants career progression, you may want to go somewhere else. Progression is really slow here if any.

Competitive and challenging environment.

Handle students, parents, professors, colleagues and contractors' correspondences. Manage Office and project management. Low promotion rate especially for executives. Poor leadership for non-academic offices. Lack of directions, lack of training and lack of time for training. Poor HR that doesn't do good guidance and training for staff.

Pros

The company has built a good name through hiring able staff.

Cons

No training, no time to go for training, no mentor, poor leadership, unqualified management, poor work culture.

flexible arrangement

Working in a top university with many resource within reach. Focus quite heavily in writing papers to maintain the ranking. Flexible working hours but don't expect a high salary.

Very difficult to get others to help you for some department.Career progress is as slow as snail.Upper management sometimes cannot agree with each other, leaving the ground work people anxious and confuse

excellent work and learning scope

Lot of technical they will arrange for you training which you might not be familiar during academic career. Excellent scope of learning from the knowledgeable professors and senior and colleagues. You must feel happy at the end of everyday. But no job security. If you are a fresh graduate and want to gain knowledge, you are strongly recommended to start your career here.

Pros
