Not recommended for the young and energetic
Depending on the department which you are in, work pace and culture is very different. This might be a good place for administrative staff but technical/engineering staff are not valued as much. Compensation wise, it is not as competitive. Many staff from all levels have left and unable to find replacements largely due to aggressive hiring by other companies. Unless you have a good number of years of working experience, you will find salary progression and promotion very unattractive. There are some good benefits though. Medical and dental benefits are reasonable. Parents and childcare leave etc. This is a good place if you have young kids which requires you to knock off from work on time and not have last minute meetings etc. No one will question you on your maternity leave. However, if you are young, energetic and wants career progression, you may want to go somewhere else. Progression is really slow here if any.

excellent work and learning scope
Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Former Employee) - Singapore - March 3, 2022
Lot of technical they will arrange for you training which you might not be familiar during academic career. Excellent scope of learning from the knowledgeable professors and senior and colleagues. You must feel happy at the end of everyday. But no job security. If you are a fresh graduate and want to gain knowledge, you are strongly recommended to start your career here.
Pros
excellent characterization facility
Cons
poor salary

Workplace culture in the company
Senior Executive (Former Employee) - 50 nanyang avenue - March 2, 2022
One is expected to facilitate and resolve matters pertaining from procurement, finance, safety, facilities, HR, IT, Website and Event functions. Salary package offered is not aligned with the duties and responsibilities of the job. There is lack of career advancement or progression in the admin cluster.
Pros
Staff medical benefits
Cons
Silo work culture, long working hours, Salary compensation not aligned

Slow and Low stress Environment
Senior Assistant Manager (Former Employee) - West Singapore - November 9, 2021
Everyone follows the Starting work and knocking off timing to the dot, even lunch time they would time it to be exactly 1 hour. Work environment is low stress and slow paced as compared to corporate life, work life balance is a definite as working overtime is considered a taboo thing and approval from management is required if you need to return to office after office hours and on weekends. Staff would often stay in the same position/office when they joined and movement across departments and schools are very rare.Benefits are comparable and good enough, with an on-campus free clinic
Pros
Work life balance and low stress
Cons
Dead End Jobs

Jobs at Nanyang Technological University
Good to retire
Senior Executive (Current Employee) - Singapore - July 25, 2021
Good work life balance, good benefits, learning stagnates after a while. Pay on the lower end but there is bonus and AWS. The merit increment is almost like nothing.
Pros
Good for retirement
Cons
Nothing to learn, too specialised roles

Focused on goals, supportive staff
Manager Operations (Former Employee) - NEWRI - February 14, 2021
NTU is a fun place to work. The salary is competitive. If I have a chance to go back, I would. My colleagues and my supervisor were always helpful in supporting me in and out of office. I am always thankful for that.
Pros
Green environment, many canteens
Cons
career advancement is not opaque enough.

Long day of work
Senior Executive (Current Employee) - Jurong West - December 10, 2019
There is always multi-task for many jobs for one salary and you will feel the pressure not to solve issues but to relieve the pressure from top management.
Pros
Work Life Balance
Cons
Pressure

Cut Throat
Assistant Manager (Current Employee) - Marina Bay - October 29, 2019
It's not about what you know but who you know that gets you further working at NTU. Management does not care about lower level staff and even some who have worked for years get forgotten compared to younger staff who tend to "carry points" with those in charge.
Most staff begin on contract and depending on whether your manager finds you "useful" you could be stuck as a contract staff for years hoping that year on year you will get extended.
Pros
Flexible yearly benefits
Cons
no job security

There is no growth in your life.

This job has its peak and non-peak period whereby you may need to take care a few events simultaneously.
This job is also interesting as it allows you to meet and interact with people from various industries.
Pros
Understanding bosses
Cons
Many red-tapes and slow in salary increment

Work can be busy during term time
Assistant Manager (Current Employee) - Nanyang Avenue - October 8, 2018
The workplace can be busy during term time but during holidays, the school is quieter and we have more time to clear up backlogs.
The students are the stakeholders so it is a youthful working environment.
There is not a lot of advancement or increment in salary but allows worklife balance.
Pros
chartered buses to home
Cons
work can be demanding especially when there are lack of resources
