So so company
System Engineer (Former Employee) - Singapore - April 23, 2022
The package is not very competitive depending on the department you are in. Vendor environment, so there might be some discrepancy between your SLA and customer demands. Colleague wise is ok, as there is not much room for growth in the position therefore not much competition from your colleague.

Overall so so
Software Engineer (Former Employee) - 5 Ang Mo Kio Street 62, NCS Hub, Singapore 569141 - March 27, 2022
Bad compensation for people who stay long. It depends on your luck and which boss you meet. Some projects are very political. There is no proper team lead in some teams and led to doing things our way. And changes are required because there's no proper communication beforehand. A supportive boss who encourages exposure to new activities. The Cons is the management is messy, and no proper KT to do a particularly challenging task.

Good place, good colleagues
IT Consultant (Former Employee) - Ang Mo Kio - March 17, 2022
I worked in NCS for about 10 years plus. I have picked up a lot of technical skills in NCS. Management is good. My colleagues and boss are nice and fun to work with and there are a lot of opportunities to take up courses (be it online or face to face). I like the environment and culture too. Location wise is accessible as well. Most enjoyable part of the job will be the opportunities to learn new things. I dont think there is any hardest part of the job.

Building B feels like a different workplace.
Test Consultant (Former Employee) - Singapore - January 6, 2022
Too much work and the technologies are very slow coupled with dated hardware made work that can be done in a day take a few days to complete. Departments is like a revolving door as many quit and many new comers are coming in every tuesday.
Pros
You can be inexperienced and still get hired.
Cons
Long hours and no OT pay.

Jobs at NCS
Productive and collaborated workplace
Business system analyst (Former Employee) - Ang Mo Kio - December 28, 2021
Good company culture and good colleagues. Work collaboration between different department and team. Pay is average. Workload depends on the project you are assigned to. Work remotely and team segregation during covid period. Good to join if you want to learn more in vendor environment. Career advancement is limited and depends on luck sometimes. Top management will gather feedback from employees and take follow up action.
Pros
Family oriented.
Cons
The workload depends on the project you joined, some project is stressful some is more relaxing.

Poor management and culture
Application Consultant (Current Employee) - Yio Chu Kang - November 6, 2021
The middle and higher management have no grasp of what is happening on the ground. If there's any issue, it's the low ranked staff who are fixing it. There will be a lot of emails asking for updates but none that offer any help. No lead or directions from the managers. You will be expected to fend for yourself. New tasks will continuously come in but there won't be any proper environment or documentation. No OT pay, no recognition, lots of politics. If you're a yes man who is willing to work long hours, be available all the time and not question anything, you will survive here. Culture is really bad, team members don't get along, there's no team spirit, lots of blame game. It's difficult to go on leave and the salary increment is low.
Pros
Stable job, decent pay
Cons
Long hours, bad culture, no leadership

Working Culture is not good
Senior Application Engineer (Former Employee) - Ang Mo Kio - October 8, 2021
Working culture is not good. NCS won't pay for OT. NCS not allow to utilize comp-off leaves. No career growth. I am having 27 days comp-off in my hand now but not allowing me to utilize now. No credit for hard work.

What project team assign
tasks tight deadlines and new tasks keep pouring in . lead dont know how to lead a team. Lead hide behind the staff on issues and mininal leadership. Good team work can survive and grow, some managers ignore HR policies and do shady actions to treat staff unfairly. Hardest part is lack of experienced technical staff to lead the team. most managers have weak skills and dont respect technical engineer explanation and wanted to explain things that they wanted to hear. Gain experience
Pros
good team if very lucky
Cons
lead managers steal staff credit and refuse to recognize staff achievements. unfair appraisal rating

They'll throw you away if you don't work OT
Software QA Analyst (Current Employee) - Singapore - September 6, 2021
They don't pay for your OT. It's not legal to work for more than 44 hours or on off days without any compensation, but they'll do it anyway because most of the staff are either contracted from a third party or from India, who would have no choice but to obey the ridiculously long hours since they would not like to go back to their country. The HR does not care if you worked hard enough or not if you don't produce results. They don't care for the reasons you aren't able to perform for your work. They'll have you out of the project as soon as they find a replacement who's willing to do your laborous work for longer hours. The cafeteria has alright food for decent prices but I can't imagine anyone wanting to work here with what they offer, if they knew about the hours and how they treta their employees.
Pros
An okay cafeteria.
Cons
Long hours, lack of care a!out their own employees, lacking good leadership for their projects, horrendous pay and no OT compensation.

Secure and safe learning environment for fresh grads, lots of useful (and secret) projects for probably all govt branches
Software Engineer (Current Employee) - NCS Hub at Ang Mo Kio - April 10, 2021
Highly evolved systems of management are in place. Working culture varies from project to project depending on your project manager, but my experience is great. As a developer I have lots of autonomy to decide how to achieve my objectives and ample time to complete tasks. As of 2019-2021, NCS has provided a very structured employee training program known as NuCleuS, where it periodically sends full-time staff on short courses at NUS to slowly gain more certification (and ultimately get masters at the end of 5 years). On the "leaves" side of things, NCS provides a generous 18 days of annual leave, with off-in-lieu if public holidays fall on weekends. There's also birthday leave, family care leave, marriage leave, volunteerism leave, skills upgrading leave etc. Middle management may vary in quality by team, but the upper management are all really good people with lots of experience.
Pros
Comfortable and clean toilets (with tissue dispenser and automatic doors), modern cashless staff canteen.
Cons
A lot of responsibility when working for govt, such that it could necessitate occassional overtime.

Cons
Can’t switch project as easily
