Featured review
NCS selected this as a representative reviewGreat place to start off for fresh graduates. Attended their fireside chats at my university and was intrigued by the vision and purpose of the company, so decided to join the Nucleus programme. When i joined, i found that the management is very progressive and visionary. The Nucleus programme is structured and there are a lot of opportunities.
Pros
Great place to start
Cons
Challenging work, but fulfilling.

Internship at NCS
Internship (Former Employee) - Ang Mo Kio - September 15, 2022
Poor company culture. Very horrible internship experience. The employees here are very rude, have habits of speaking vulgar and some of them even made very rude jokes on woman in the office.

Stable job
Software Engineer (Current Employee) - Ang Mo Kio - August 19, 2022
The stress level is determine by the project you go. The people are generally nice. But the salary here cannot compare with outside. The longer you work here, the more you are underpaid.

Transformative organization
Human Resources Manager (Current Employee) - Ang Mo Kio - July 21, 2022
NCS is undergoing a transformation and I'm excited to be onboard the journey with them. Work wise it can be fast paced but the colleagues are great and we collaborate alot across departments.

Focused on career progression
Talent Acquisition (Current Employee) - Ang Mo Kio - July 21, 2022
NCS is expanding rapidly so if you enjoy working in a fast paced environment then you will be rewarded accordingly. If you are in the tech role then alot of focus on your certification as that is part of the business requirements.
Pros
Management trying hard to improve internal processes
Cons
SI environment very different and can be difficult to work at times

Good place, good colleagues
IT Consultant (Former Employee) - Ang Mo Kio - March 17, 2022
I worked in NCS for about 10 years plus. I have picked up a lot of technical skills in NCS. Management is good. My colleagues and boss are nice and fun to work with and there are a lot of opportunities to take up courses (be it online or face to face). I like the environment and culture too. Location wise is accessible as well. Most enjoyable part of the job will be the opportunities to learn new things. I dont think there is any hardest part of the job.

Jobs at NCS
in Ang Mo KioProductive and collaborated workplace
Business system analyst (Former Employee) - Ang Mo Kio - December 28, 2021
Good company culture and good colleagues. Work collaboration between different department and team. Pay is average. Workload depends on the project you are assigned to. Work remotely and team segregation during covid period. Good to join if you want to learn more in vendor environment. Career advancement is limited and depends on luck sometimes. Top management will gather feedback from employees and take follow up action.
Pros
Family oriented.
Cons
The workload depends on the project you joined, some project is stressful some is more relaxing.

Poor management and culture
Application Consultant (Current Employee) - Yio Chu Kang - November 6, 2021
The middle and higher management have no grasp of what is happening on the ground. If there's any issue, it's the low ranked staff who are fixing it. There will be a lot of emails asking for updates but none that offer any help. No lead or directions from the managers. You will be expected to fend for yourself. New tasks will continuously come in but there won't be any proper environment or documentation. No OT pay, no recognition, lots of politics. If you're a yes man who is willing to work long hours, be available all the time and not question anything, you will survive here. Culture is really bad, team members don't get along, there's no team spirit, lots of blame game. It's difficult to go on leave and the salary increment is low.
Pros
Stable job, decent pay
Cons
Long hours, bad culture, no leadership

Working Culture is not good
Senior Application Engineer (Former Employee) - Ang Mo Kio - October 8, 2021
Working culture is not good. NCS won't pay for OT. NCS not allow to utilize comp-off leaves. No career growth. I am having 27 days comp-off in my hand now but not allowing me to utilize now. No credit for hard work.

Secure and safe learning environment for fresh grads, lots of useful (and secret) projects for probably all govt branches
Software Engineer (Current Employee) - NCS Hub at Ang Mo Kio - April 10, 2021
Highly evolved systems of management are in place. Working culture varies from project to project depending on your project manager, but my experience is great. As a developer I have lots of autonomy to decide how to achieve my objectives and ample time to complete tasks. As of 2019-2021, NCS has provided a very structured employee training program known as NuCleuS, where it periodically sends full-time staff on short courses at NUS to slowly gain more certification (and ultimately get masters at the end of 5 years). On the "leaves" side of things, NCS provides a generous 18 days of annual leave, with off-in-lieu if public holidays fall on weekends. There's also birthday leave, family care leave, marriage leave, volunteerism leave, skills upgrading leave etc. Middle management may vary in quality by team, but the upper management are all really good people with lots of experience.
Pros
Comfortable and clean toilets (with tissue dispenser and automatic doors), modern cashless staff canteen.
Cons
A lot of responsibility when working for govt, such that it could necessitate occassional overtime.

Depends on the project posted to. Some project teams are competitive and finding scapegoat when it comes to appraisal time. But benefits are alright, has 18 days annual leave .
Pros
Has company canteen, benefits are good
Cons
Can’t switch project as easily

Not recommended
Technician (Former Employee) - Ang Mo Kio - May 13, 2020
NCS have terribly poor management. Everything is managed poorly, the work is not well assigned to every employees. NCS staff are very rude and uses vulgarity when speaking. The staff treat others with no respect and have no discipline. The company also did not give employees enough work and life balance. Keep forcing employees to work overtime. I will not recommend people to join this company.

Unbalance company
operation service engineer (Former Employee) - Yio Chu Kang - March 16, 2020
Increment is low, unbalance work culture, unbalance manpower with too many contract foreigners. management says they won't fire or dismiss anyone but when project is out of money or not earning, they will sell it off including letting go of those contract staff handling the project.

It is a very productive workplace where the environment is also friendly and able to make you learn a lot of new things and focus on your work. There are definitely difficulties in adapting t the start but overall it is a nice place to work at
