Interesting environment

Indeed Featured review

As the systems are not very automated, it gives us more opportunities to showcase automation initiatives like python or vba. Was lucky to have a good manager and a nice team during my tenure. For new joiners, try not to complain about the work and keep learning and improving.

Good place to work

Nice colleagues that are helpful. Depends on your department but my team always stayed late. The supervisor was really nice and helpful. Lots of paperwork to do, as expected.

Legacy system & management

There are a lot of manual process in the company making it painful to do important jobs. The management are shy away from change make it hard to transform business into more digital.

Long paid leave

Cons

Manual process, silo department

Collaborative with room to grow

Overall a good place to work in, bosses are understanding and there are opportunities to grow. Could have done better on staff welfare during COVID-19.

Pros

All is good. Superiors can be more hands on and more impartial when it comes to performance evaluation - based on own experience. Work environment is generally good with decent pay package.

Competitive environment

Competitive environment as a starting job. Unable to see job security or future if you join in as a contract staff. Was working there for a year + and 3/4 of the time will OT to clear backlog. Teams and people come and go quickly

Selfish boss and selfish colleagues

Not the worse bank but the worse department that i’ve been to and work with. Whats wrong with going home on the dot?? Colleague is worse, not helpful and super petty.

Pros

Cons

Regimental culture

If you are new, most people will be unwilling to help you out and whenever you ask for help, they will be very rude towards you. Everything is trial and error, you learn by making mistakes, which I think is bad as it drastically affects job satisfaction and motivation to even go to work.

Cons

Long hours

Stressful and competitive

Managers only care about targets and sales. They do not care if you have worked 12 hours. It is essentially culture that you have to stay till late unless you've already hit your sales targets.

Pros

Nice colleagues

Cons

Long hours, No work life balance, No life in general

Internship experience

Kinda don’t like the work culture there, manager is not friendly at all. New to the environment but their expectation on new comer is high. Don’t recommend you to work there if you can’t take stress or long working hours.

Pros

Exposure to working with other teams

Cons

long hours, bad culture

There's a lot of work need to do

Working as a contractual staff in OCBC. OCBC Bank is a fantastic place to work, you can learn a lot of things here not only on a technical basis but also on how to deal with other people.

Pros

good working environment within my department

Cons

Long working hours, insane amount of workload

Good employee benefit but staff is not valued by management

The bank has a very bad integration with supporting departments (eg, credit team is not able to provide an indicative financing amount but instead they will ask how much does client want) Poor business foresight by higher management and they do not value and groom staff (the management does not provide the necessary resources, resources are heavily skewed to a handful of people)

Bad Managment

No foresight and is always constantly firefighting. Constantly rush to be the first in the market by only addressing the current problem without thinking about the problem that might face in the future and then rush to fight fire when a new one arises

Pros

None

Cons

Long hours
