Decent environment
Cashier (Former Employee) - Singapore - September 5, 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedWorked part-time for cash. Colleagues are helpful to a large extent. Job is pretty simple/brain-dead. Just do and go home. You may get colleagues who look down on you because you are a part-timer, be mentally prepared, but don't be too overly concerned about it as they are usually harmless. Just ignore them.

Salary and working environment
Cashier (Part-time) (Current Employee) - Pasir Ris - July 18, 2023
Weekdays and weekends salary are the same, No incentives and no weekends allowance too, not like other supermarkets that give different salary on weekends and some incentives. The red uniform people won’t be happy seeing long queue for payment.

Good salary
Very good environment that can help u I'm working life. Good money good A good review includes enough detail to give others a feel for what happened. Explain which factors contributed to your positive, negative or just so-so experience. You might also offer your view on what the company is doing well, and how they can improve. But keep things

Poor management of employees well being and welfare
Cashier (Part-time) (Former Employee) - Singapore - January 8, 2023
Sheng Siong management only employs Chinese and Vietnamese workers. Only Chinese speaking employees are employed.No/ Very Slow career advancement. Unfair treatment to employees. Long working hours less salary. Management will only side with customers despite customer’s fault as their motto is “Customers always right” even though it’s not employee’s fault.
Pros
No pros
Cons
Long hours, no lunch provided, unfair treatment

Ok if you're a student who just wants a job
Overall experience was ok. Learnt how operate the cashier machine. The people in my outlet are not so welcoming but I gotta get used to it. Though the pay is quite low and u need work 6 days per week, is kinda ok if u stay damm near to the supermarket and who jus want a job. Would not recommend if you're looking for a higher pay job.
Pros
free meals (and they give a lot!)
Cons
standing the whole time, work 8 hrs only 30mins break

Ill treated as staff
I'm going to share my own experience working in this company. Cons: - Long working hours - Management love cahooting one another - Unfair treatment to cashiers - No work-life balance (Need to come back even if it's your off day) - Unfair treatment and biased mindset from the upper management - Chronically indecisive management - Less than 15-30 mins lunch or dinner break - Mild treated employees over 60 to perform heavy duties tasks Pro: - High payout for the bonuses

Terrible workplace
Not a place for S’porean. Outlet is fully managed by the red uniforms that are mainly Malaysians and they run the outlet like their own father’s business, set their own rules to their convenience, they side and protect their own fellow countryman even they may be at fault, they can promote a totally unqualified person just bcos the person is a Malaysian, no ground for Singaporean at all. The supervisor has no leadership and totally unqualified, uneducated, biased, rude and unreasonable. PM shift starts at 3pm, supervisor will force staff to take dinner before 4pm and though break should be 45mins but supervisor expect staff to get back to work immediately after eating, cannot take full 45mins rest.
Pros
Zero
Cons
Long hours standing, no proper resting time, staff are forced to take early dinner which caused health issue in long run

Interaction conducive environment
Cashier (Former Employee) - Singapore - January 12, 2020
Quickly picked up being swift in managing queues and tackling obstacles while dealing with festive music being overplayed. Highly interactive with both colleagues and shoppers to brighten up the mood.

Not family place
Cashier (Former Employee) - Singapore - September 20, 2019
Have to work on weekends, cannot choose off day as there is a permanent off day for each staff. Benefits are good for staff, staff can get bursary for their kids from primary to secondary.

Friendly workplace
Sales Assistant part time (Former Employee) - Woodlands - September 2, 2019
This review was based on experience a couple of years back. A typical day would be replenishing of stocks from the storage area to the shelving. Other than that, answering of customer enquirers. Notably location of items. The management was very particular about punctuality.

Supporting family
Cashier (Part-time) (Former Employee) - Canberra - July 28, 2019
My colleagues there are very welcoming and they had taught me a lot when I first joined the company. It was a very fun experience to work with them. When I decided to leave, they were very supportive and they wished me all the best for my studies. I was really touched and this truly made me feel like I was part of this family.

Productive and engaging workplace
Retail Assistant (Former Employee) - Woodlands - May 8, 2018
Working there provides first-hand experience in dealing with consumers in-store and out. Customer demands and satisfaction has to be met in order for business to flourish and expand further, thus cooperation between departments is essential in order to achieve this primary goal. Organizing of goods and prioritizing customers' needs and wants are essential in fulfilling the roles of a retail assistant. THe role may seem and sound insignificant, however, it is due to these small roles that help to run the bigger picture in the business.
From here, I have learnt how to deal with different types of customers, how to handle pressure, how to balance work and play, and I also built up my responsibility and communication skills.
Pros
good welfare

Nice workplace in general
Cashier (Former Employee) - Jurong East - January 12, 2018
Pretty tedious but if you want to put your peserverance to test, it's perfect for you Involves mild weightlifting lol. It's all abt eficiency, speed & accuracy. If you're a M, rest assure rude customers are gonna give you a good time here.
Alright but honestly, I came to enjoy my time there.
You just have to get used to it and go find your own style of cashiering.
It may not be a very glorified or clean job, but ya'll should join for the good comissions and the fruitful, worth it experience.
Hey disclaimer though, extreme introverts please don't do this and torture yourself. Unless you want to step out of your comfort zone good luck!
Pros
Free lunches, $900 contract completion, $80 commission
Cons
Long hours
