Good work experience

Work experience with them was good. It will matter only the compensation is not fair to all nurses especially the foreign hired, the salary & benefits are far behind from the local nurses. That’s why they can’t keep a hardworking and skillful nurses to stay with them long.

Good workplace but pay is not enough to meet cost of living.

Good workplace but pay is not enough to meet cost of living.SGH supports in every aspect including taking courses and advancing the career, but the pay is not enough to support a family in Singapore.

Potential for growth but unfortunately hindered by poor management

Despite being a leader in healthcare, the experience gained is greatly curbed. The management functions by instilling fear into their employees and will resort to interrogations about private matters. The departments attrition rate speaks for itself.

Pros

Wide range of specialities

Cons

Invasive management

Stressful work - MSW

Bad leaders who scold n intimidate. Staff overworked and expected to do so. Pay was decent but no work life balance. Overall, would not recommend this place to work in as a msw

Stressful environment, good opportunity to learn as exposure is great.

The turnover in my department was really high, new staff are not supported. If you are willing to suck it up and stay, you will learn a lot. You will become a better nurse for sure but probably a jaded, burnt out one.

Pros

good pay

Cons

short breaks, overworking people

You will enjoy the job if you enjoy meeting and helping the weak and sickly to regain their health.

Healthcare is a rising sun industry. You will pick up many health tips from Medical Professionals, Service Providers and even patients during your course of work. Never a dull moment working in Hospital and clinic setting.

Pros

Good staff welfare, many opportunities to upgrade and stay relevant.

Cons

Work in germs and disease environment, but exercising Infection Control will keep them at bay. At times, will encounter demanding and difficult customers.

The most enjoyable part of the job!

The most enjoyable part of the job is team work. To survive a busy shift in ICU requires a good team work spirit. During a busy admission in ICU is so important to have lots of help from everyone.

Excellent

Different division pay different starting pay for same entry level. The team of workers are passionate and co operative. Every second at work is really work alone.

Intense work place, great exposure

For applicants that do not know Singapore before, beyter make a trip there first to get to feel the work culture and community. SGH aims at professional work standard, but the work procedures sometimes can be killing and exhausting.

Progression to the next level is slow

Job security is ensure but exposure to new ideas are limited. The progression to the next level is limited to quota, even if you do perform well. External training are limited.

A place of learning and challenges

Probably the largest among the hospitals in Singapore, SGH caters to almost all medical cases known to human. The opportunity of learning is vast unfortunately some are limited to only certain groups of employees. Nurse to patient ratio probably is the most vulnerable part of the institution due to the huge number of patients needing medical care. Overall, SGH is a very good place for enriching your profession's skill.
