As a relatively new university, a lot of ground work needs to be done. You gotta be a all rounder and a master of a particular at the same time.

It's a relatively fast paced environment. And you need to excel and shine outstandingly to be able to stay on, else you'll be asked to leave once contract is up.

The management is not understanding when it comes to employees with mental health sickness. Colleagues are nice and friendly though.
Do not join the institute if you are not productive

Don't find the division I work in very friendly. People tend to have their own cliques and are not warm/welcoming to new staff. Work can be really boring unless you are keen in the technology/industry.
Pros
Two canteens
Cons
Food not so cheap at canteen. No discounted price for staff/students. Food tastes terrible.

Job Culture
At this nascent stage where employees are new, promotions and job assignments may not be totally meritocratic but is based in large upon whim and fancy of the so-called department directors. Senior management (SM) seems fickle-minded as their policies keep changing. The KPIs for the faculty keep changing with an increasing emphasis on scholarly output rather than teaching (which used to be of utmost importance just a few months back). Many current faculty who have put a lot of effort into teaching find that all their effort seems to have gone to waste. The SM is, unfortunately, staffed with people with powerful political connections rather than respected academics with an international reputation (who really understand what a university needs). This results in the university being run like a corporation rather than a true university. The president refused to retire a few years back and instead extended his contract by another 5 years. Not much change has been made though as he continued to receive his fat paycheck, except that the current provost has been replaced by some dean from NUS.

The current SIT campus is located just next to the ACS (Independent) campus. It may seem ironical that a university campus turns out to be smaller than that of a mere high school. But then, they claim that the current SIT campus is only temporary - the permanent campus will be located in 5 years' time at the northern tip of Punggol, just opposite Pasir Gudang. Many may remember Pasir Gudang as a huge petrochemical industrial complex in Johor which made news headlines recently due to mass

I like teaching Mathematics and Physics in this environment because the students are driven and motivated to learn. They like to understand the concepts behind the formulas and I enjoy helping them to appreciate what they learn better.

Nice faculty members. Currently still shaping policies as it is a new University. Since no policies, many times individual need to figure on how to get things done than strategizing. If you do not have any background working in an IHL, I would not recommend you to apply. If you have background working with an IHL, this is a good environment for you to grow with SIT.
Pros
Free lunch, Work Life Balance, No old school baggage
Cons
Need improvement on process and policies as it is a new university.

The culture has changed much with movement in the management, which can be a good or a bad thing. Different directors have different style of management, so it depends if you can work with it.
Cons
