The Singapore Police Force (SPF) is a uniformed organisation under the purview of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The mission of the SPF is to prevent, deter and detect crime to ensure the safety and security of Singapore. This is done through its focus on the 5 broad areas of Police work - Frontline Policing, Counter and E-services, Investigation, Community Engagement and Public Security & Order.
Good for young people to pick up new skills, however hours are long and the pay doesn’t justify what you’re doing. There’s better opportunities once you have valuable skillsets like investigations, intelligence and leadership
As the face of the key enforcement agency in Singapore, a lot is expected of you. Pay is high, to match the stress and work load. Scholars always get ahead, but can be a smooth pathway if nothing goes wrong.
Work and life balance is good but the working culture can be toxic. Promotion will depend on your education level and not experience. Progression is good if you wish to further you studies.
Great training opportunities. But some mismatch of expectation between top mgmt and ground reality. Although LG level puts in effort to engage with ground people, self sensoring and self fear seems to be preventing real situations to be communicated to higher up. Too many red tapes as well.
Work is interesting and bosses are nice. Office hours role, which is less tiring than shift work of uniformed officers Management is invested in upskilling staff and will sponsor them for courses
