Great WLB

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Very balanced and holistic work culture.Constantly encouraged to take part in self development or external volunteering programsAlthough things move slowly (typical of banks), still a great place to grow a career.

Employee benefits are superb and robust!

Though the general direction of HR, CEO and management are superb, ultimately it boils down to your direct manager in daily BAU. All in all, if your manager is good/ supportive, you will enjoy your work in SCB SG.

Good working environment with good remuneration but with lack of stability

Good diverse working groups but offshoring is common place in this bank. Remuneration is good with generous bonus payout. However, there is a lot of restructuring and offshoring ongoing which can be worrisome sometimes

Average.

Culture is average. Paywise, somewhere in the 30 to 40th percentile amongst taxpayers. WFH policy is the selling point of working for SCB. Other than that, work is monotonous.

Good workplace

Fast paced and chaotic. Lots to learn, plenty of resources. Capable colleagues with lots of them willing to guide and teach.Sometimes the support functions can't keep up due to volumes.

Good place to work

Well paying and a good place to work. Encourages diversity and has an open work culture that rewards creativity. High transformational environment with dynamic R&R.

Depends on your boss

Some bosses are micromanagers. If you are in such a team, expect to work pass 8 everyday while other teams get to leave by 630. Promotion and increment can be slow.

Good place to start learning

The project I was assigned to provided a great starting point to learn the skills needed to excel. You will need to be able to learn and understand independently because your mentors might not be free all the time. Definitely still a good soft skill to pick up

Working Environment was Pleasant

Overall quite good in terms of culture.I left because when I was on maternity leave the whole department was pushed one band higher because they had excess budget but I was overlooked since I was on maternity leave even though my work was satisfactory. My line manager assured me I would be promoted next year and I was but the increment was only $100.

Good place to gain experience in international bank

Hybrid work arrangement, working with colleagues in different geographies. Team camaraderie is somewhat lacking due to got hot desking arrangement. Colleagues do try to offer guidance when in doubt but independence is also required as each staff is busy with their tasks. Benefits are better than local banks, and compensation is not bad. Due to dealing in different regions, good place to gain experience in international banking.

Turnover

As with all banks, turnover is high due to stressful environment. Benefit is better than local banks. Long hours. Colleagues not very helpful. Micromanaging.

Global presence, great for starting a banking career

Global presence, great for fresh grads looking for a career in banking. However, office culture and work life balance depends on which department you work for. Plenty of opportunities within the organisation but depends largely on whether your current boss would release you for another department.

Great workplace

Good benefits, decent pay, good environmentFlexible working environment, people are willing to teach if you do not know. However, IT is lacking with over the top security measures that affect QOL when working

Flexible work environment, good people

Flexible work arrangement, good people, pay decent, nothing bad to say about culture other than troublesome security measures. Good place to start your career

Bureaucratic and hierarchy

Management getting from bad to worse. New hired tellers getting paid much more than existing staff. Slow progression for ops unless u know how to bootlick. Constant change of structure and management.

Great place to work

Best place to work there is nothing better than this in the entire world. An organisation which invests in its people from all perspectives - happy place

Good place to work in but feel silo-ed at some point

Good place to work in - silo - ed at some point . The staff are good. Colleagues are good too. Flexible working hours. Option to work remotely if no in person meetings.

Collaborative place

Very collaborative environment and people are very willing to help/teach you. However, a large part of your growth in the company will be dependent on how much your boss is willing to fight for you and which business line you are in.

Pros

Collaborative, helpful colleagues, good benefits

Cons

Longer hours, promotion can be difficult depending on your business line
