I had a wonderful experience working here. Colleagues are genuinely kind and nice. The work load can pile on quickly without you noticing so that is something to watch and manage. Staff benefits are good.
Vibrant environment, exposure to welfare system, transferrable skills
Work can get tough; but it happens across the sector
The life of a typical welfare worker is wrought with many busy tasks which include balancing your own work load of tasks required to be carried out by your boss, which include your own paperwork for any funding requests you may require for equipment for your programs you organize. On top of this, you are obligated to meet with the families that you are assigned to watch over on your own time, and have to produce concise monthly reports on them. It expends a tremendous amount of energy both physically and mentally and is a profession that is underpaid, overworked and is made a whole lot worse if you do not have an good boss to work with, more so if your boss is unreasonable and demanding, who chooses to enforce their religious beliefs on company time, deeming it as a "break" from mundane tasks and a way to revitalize one's self from lethargy.
Exposure to the world of welfare
Horrible bosses, unreasonable demands on your leisure time, inflexible working schedule
