Indian working culture. Globally sounds promising but depends on regional/department as well.

Indeed Featured review

The business model is good. The upper management really employs experienced department heads to drive innovation and business ideas. The IT services team in SG are dominated by india talents. Most managers and directors are indians too. Company conducts trainings by batches and hires many fresh graduates and career changers. However, about half of each batch will leave after training due to not qualified orlack of duitable projects to work on.

An ok company

Depends of the project you get. Very low hike. Doesn't matter whether you work hard or not...all get the same hike in your team. If you are put into a bad project...then the manager won't even cooperate with you to change you to another team.

Managers and dirty politics! The company may struggle a lot from these two.

Company in GeneralThe company has some nice policies and good people in top management. However, the employee hardly benefits from the good side of UST due to managers and team leads being birdbrains. You'll land up in a lingua-political work environment where Keralites and Telugus team up against each other. Even though they interact as if they are friends, there is spite for each other deep down, and you can expect a backstabbing at any moment. Even though you perform well, your manager & TL decides if it should be taken to the top management. Snitches will be managers' pets. If you know how to take issues to HR or top management, you can be successful.Professional GrowthUST offers limited professional growth as it's just a third-party service provider to many companies. Your growth depends on your client's and your manager's subjective view of your performance (managers mostly prefer snitches and clients prefer high-achievers. Thus, there can be clashes.). If you are relieved from a project, they will throw you to benches where you will get bored and will be forced to resign. They have tie-ups with some learning providers. However, if you need specific training or something, it will be hectic to go through the manager's desk. He / She decides if you should be given any training. And most of the time, these managers are not techies - so they don't understand how things work. And, they have different salary/reimbursement policies for people. If you are in their good book, you will get your salary revised when you receive some appreciation. Or, you won't even get the -

Plan to work all holidays, weekends and different shifts

Management and team leads were extremely unprofessional. The system of training was an adequate amount of time but the trainer wasn’t good with people nor qualified to train.

OK for a service oriented company, stable job

Most of the projects are production support, so need to ensure that you are going in for the correct role. The company is growing and there are plenty of opportunities. The pay is below industry standard

Relaxed work place

I joined UST as a fresher. For me it was good from a work life balance perspective. But annual hike and bonus is very less - max what i got was just 10%. If you stay in the company for long, there won't be much career growth or increment in pay.

Pros

Relaxed work environment, friendly colleagues, good employee engagement activities

Cons

No career growth, less hikes

Doesnt give good compensation

This organization is only concerned about it's own benefits and they don't care about employees. They just ask us to submit resignation if we are out of projects. Organization more focuses expanding it's own building and doing show off.

A mismanaged service based Indian company with very less clients

Some of India offices e.g. Bangalore work as a Staff Aug where they will send you to client location. Less clients as compared to other service based companies.

Pros

No micro-management from UST managers at client site and this varies from accounts to accounts.

Cons

Lots of contractor hiring like US desi consultancies, Mismanaged organization structure with very less communication with leadership, Once in a while we get an email from CEO/COO. Unnecessary focus on some leadership programs, where even s/w developers are asked to complete the program instead of focus on technologies, If project is completed or not extended, then very less chance of getting project, This company is too much focused on one particular Indian state people and hiring, promotions, onsite focused on these particular people.

They continually pay contractors late or not at all; no support from (offshore) management

This company is run from India but they are trying to present themselves as a US company. They present themselves as a "boutique" agile consultancy, but in reality they are a giant "staffing" or "staff augmentation" style company. They hire people with the presentation that they are "agile", but their internal policies and management structure are anything but agile. It is nearly impossible to get support from management for anything happening on the client site once you are placed there. Corp to corp contractors are routinely paid late or not paid at all - this has been an ongoing problem because they operate as a non-US company, with shell companies doing the accounts payable in the US on their behalf. These companies are frequently changed, and have little to no concern for the vendors to whom they are supposed to make payment on invoices. It is not clear why they continue to operate from outside the US, but this is the only company for which I have worked that uses this 'pass through vendor' payment scheme. I would not recommend working for them at all. They talk a good game, but in the end treat all consultants as commodities.

Pros

Somewhat competitive pay rates, if they actually pay you

Cons

Poor support, late payment or non-payment of invoices
