KIRIN HOLDINGS SINGAPORE PTE. LTD. is the regional headquarters of Kirin Holdings Company, Limited, a globally recognized and publicly listed group headquartered in Japan, operating across three core business pillars: Food & Beverages, Pharmaceuticals, and Health Science. As part of the Kirin Group's strategic expansion in the Asia-Pacific region, the Singapore office plays a key role in regional coordination, business development, and the launch of new growth businesses across Southeast Asia, South Asia, and Oceania.

We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead the launch and operation of Kirin's new Health Science business across the Asia-Pacific region, with Singapore serving as the regional headquarters. This is a greenfield leadership role requiring end-to-end ownership of business establishment, including strategy formulation, market entry, organizational build-out, and P&L management. The successful candidate will report directly to the Health Science Business Department at the Japan headquarters and will work closely with regional subsidiaries, distributors, and external partners across multiple jurisdictions.

Job Description

  • Lead the end-to-end launch of Kirin's Health Science business in the Asia-Pacific region such as Singapore, Malaysia, and other ASEAN countries, including market entry strategy, regulatory pathway planning, organizational design, and operational establishment across priority markets.
  • Drive business strategy formulation, execution, and performance management for the Health Science portfolio,including functional beverages and nutraceutical products, across Asia-Pacific, with direct accountability for regional P&L, budgeting, and growth targets.
  • Oversee the full commercial value chain, including marketing strategy, sales operations, distributor management, production coordination, supply chain, and new product and packaging development tailored to Asia-Pacific market requirements.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop new business opportunities across Asia-Pacific, including market scalability assessment, investment feasibility analysis, business development negotiations, partnership and distributor agreements, and market entry decision-making, in line with Kirin Group's regional growth strategy.
  • Build and lead the regional organization, including recruitment, team development, and management of cross-functional staff, while serving as the primary liaison between regional operations and the Japan headquarters on strategic, operational, and reporting matters.
  • Prepare and deliver regular business performance reports, financial forecasts, and strategic recommendations to senior management at the Japan headquarters, a publicly listed parent company, ensuring alignment with group reporting standards, governance frameworks, and consolidated strategic objectives.
  • Travel regularly across the Asia-Pacific region (approximately once or twice per month) to oversee market operations, engage with distributors and partners, and support subsidiary establishment, with potential future relocation to other markets in the region as the business expands.

Job requirements

  • More than 25 years of experience in the beverage and nutraceutical industry, of which at least 15 years in a senior management position with direct P&L responsibility. The successful candidate must have held a senior management role in the industry within the last 5 years and must have experience working at a publicly listed company, including direct reporting experience to a Japan-listed parent company.
  • More than 20 years of experience in international business operations in the beverage and nutraceutical industry, with demonstrated responsibility for business operations across five or more countries in Asia, the Middle East, or other overseas markets.
  • Proven track record of successfully launching a beverage and nutraceutical business in an overseas market in Singapore, Malaysia, and other ASEAN countries, with the launched business having operated for a minimum of 5 years and remaining in operation today, evidencing sustained commercial viability.
  • More than 10 years of top management experience (Managing Director, President, Executive Vice President, or equivalent) in a beverage and nutraceutical organization, with direct oversight across marketing, sales, production, and product development functions, including responsibility for organizations that encompass a production division.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing overseas manufacturing operations, including export-base production for international markets, and managing production-related P&L.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing distributor relationships and channel operations across multiple overseas markets, including markets with diverse regulatory environments for functional foods, health supplements, or nutraceutical products.
  • Strong cross-functional execution capability, including collaboration with regional/global headquarters and external partners across quality, regulatory, supply chain, and customer support functions with an experience supporting new product or new market launches. Must possess in-depth knowledge of local regulations for new beverage and nutraceutical product development in Singapore, Malaysia and other ASEAN Countries, including direct experience navigating product registration and substantiating health claims under ASEAN regulatory regimes.
  • High proficiency in both verbal and written English is essential. Japanese language skills (JLPT N1 or equivalent) are an added advantage for stakeholder coordination as a senior managerial role, including direct reporting to the listed parent company in Japan.
  • Willingness to travel regularly within the Asia-Pacific region (approximately once or twice per month), and openness to relocation to other countries within the region in the future as business needs require.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Communication, Commerce, Economics, Science, or equivalent.
