Medical Statistician / Statistician

JOB SUMMARY

To provide statistical leadership and expertise in the design, execution, analysis, and reporting of clinical and translational research projects spearheaded by TTSH Rehabilitation Centre and Institute of Research Excellence (IREx).

The Medical Statistician will oversee and support data management, statistical planning, and analytical activities across multi-centre, multidisciplinary research programmes, and work closely with programme leads, investigators, clinicians, and research staff to ensure high-quality, ethical, and timely research outputs.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

SPECIFIC

Work with multidisciplinary research teams (researchers, clinicians, coordinators, IT and bioinformatics staff) in the conduct of research studies by:

Providing statistical input into study design, including sample size calculations, data analysis plans, and research protocols for clinical research studies and trials
Designing, developing, and maintaining research databases (e.g. REDCap and other clinical databases) to support data capture, coding, cleaning, and analysis
Performing statistical and computational analysis of clinical and research data in an ethical and timely manner, and interpreting findings to support scientific objectives
Preparing clear and concise statistical reports, tables, figures, and visualisations to communicate results to investigators and collaborators
Conducting data quality control checks to identify and resolve inconsistencies, missing data, and anomalies
Supporting programme-level and project-level data analysis planning, including interim and final analyses
Contributing to the preparation of scientific manuscripts, grant reports, and presentations to funding agencies, institutional stakeholders, or collaborators
Coordinating with software engineers, bioinformaticians, and IT teams on database development, electronic case report forms (eCRFs), and clinical system enhancements
Providing guidance and mentorship to research staff, coordinators, and students in biostatistics, data analysis, and related disciplines
Ensuring that statistical and data management practices comply with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), regulatory, ethical, and institutional requirements

GENERAL

Attend research meetings and contribute statistical input to project discussions and decision-making
Support administrative and documentation needs related to data management and analysis
Assist in building a collaborative and collegial research environment within IREx and partner institutions
Perform other duties as directed by the Reporting Officer, Programme Leads, Principal Investigators, or Head of Department

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Information Management, Science, or a related discipline
Master’s Degree or PhD in a relevant field is preferred

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS

Experience in clinical research, healthcare research, or biomedical data analysis
Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access) and clinical research database systems such as REDCap
Working knowledge of statistical and clinical database platforms (e.g. SAS, Oracle Clinical, EDC, CTMS)
Working knowledge of SQL and programming, with interest in adopting new analytical and computational technologies
Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), clinical research processes, and regulatory requirements
Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage effectively with clinicians and researchers
Ability to translate clinical or biological questions into statistical or computational problems
Meticulous, detail-oriented, and committed to research quality and integrity
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Demonstrated initiative, ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, and meet deadlines
Willingness to provide training and guidance in biostatistics or related areas
