Shop Assistant (Cat Café)

Reports to: Store Manager

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will care for the cats, keep the space clean and safe, and look after guests

on the floor. Full training is provided.

1. CAT CARE (CORE DUTY)

- Feed and refill water on schedule and in correct portions; log intake

- Scoop litter throughout the day, change litter, clean up fur and vomit

- Observe each cat daily — energy, appetite, litter habits, skin, eyes and ears —

and report anything unusual to the manager immediately

- Follow up on vaccination, deworming and vet visits; keep records available for

licensing inspections

- Separate and log any cat that is fighting, overly stressed, or unwell

2. GUEST SERVICE & FLOOR CONTROL

- Deliver the pre-entry safety briefing to every guest: hand washing and

sanitising, no forcible handling of cats, no outside food for the cats,

no chasing or loud noise

- Stay on the floor at all times, stop inappropriate handling, and protect both

cats and guests

- Strictly enforce the double-door rule and confirm no cat follows anyone out

- Handle enquiries, complaints and incidents such as scratches or allergic

reactions per SOP, and escalate where required

3. HYGIENE & PREMISES

- Clean and disinfect cat condos, trees, mats and toys on a set schedule

- Keep floors, tables and sofas clean, odour-free and fur-free during opening hours

- Wash linens, food bowls and water bowls daily

- Count and requisition supplies: litter, dry food, cans and cleaning products

4. FRONT DESK & SALES

- Cashiering, bookings and entry-slot management, membership sign-ups

- Prepare and serve drinks and light bites; display and sell merchandise

- Encourage guests to share photos and leave reviews

- Support in-store events such as birthday bookings and adoption days

5. DAILY CHECKS & HANDOVER

- Complete the opening and closing checklist item by item and upload photos:

cat condition, litter trays, food and water bowls, floor cleanliness,

equipment and lighting

- Hand over verbally and in writing, noting any issues during the shift and the

reason for anything left undone

- Complete tasks assigned by the manager within the shift and report back

6. REQUIREMENTS

- Able to handle cats calmly and safely, including litter, waste, vomit and

shedding, for the full length of a shift

- Able to deliver the safety briefing clearly and hold a guest's attention,

including when the floor is busy

- Comfortable being on your feet and moving around the floor for most of a shift

- Available for rotating shifts including weekends and public holidays; the

closing shift ends at 11:00 pm

- Able to commit to a minimum of 6 months in the role

- Service or pet-industry experience is an advantage, but not required —

full training is provided

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $2,600.00 - $3,000.00 per month
