Jobdescription Event Manager

Singapore NetballAcademy (SGNA)

Full-Time | Singapore | 40 Hours per Week

Some Weekend Work Required

Overview

Singapore Netball Academy (SGNA) is looking for a hands-on, highly organised and proactive

Event Manager

to take ownership of our netball events throughout the year.

SGNA runs regular leagues, carnivals, tournaments, school events and overseas activities involving players, parents, coaches, schools, clubs, venues and external partners.

We are not necessarily looking for someone who already knows everything about event management.

We are looking for someone who is ambitious, curious, willing to learn and excited by the challenge of developing into a strong Event Manager.

THE ROLE

You will be responsible for managing events from initial planning through execution and post-event evaluation.

Your responsibilities will include:
Planning and coordinating netball carnivals, leagues, tournaments and other events.

Creating complete event plans, timelines and task lists.

Managing registrations and communication with players, parents, clubs and schools.

Coordinating venues, coaches, officials, umpires, suppliers and other stakeholders.

Preparing fixtures, schedules and event information documents.

Preparing and managing event budgets.

Organising equipment, medals, trophies, signage and event materials.

Planning staffing and event-day responsibilities.

Identifying potential problems early and developing solutions.

Managing event-day setup, operations and pack-down.

Ensuring events run according to schedule.

Managing results and prize presentations.

Completing post-event administration and evaluations.

Improving processes and checklists based on lessons learned.

WHO WE ARE LOOKINGFOR

The right person is someone who:
Takes ownership rather than waiting for instructions.

Thinks ahead and anticipates what needs to be done.

Is highly organised and pays attention to details.

Creates their own task lists and follows through.

Communicates proactively without needing to be chased.

Identifies problems early.

Brings solutions and recommendations, not only problems.

Takes responsibility for mistakes and learns from them.

Is curious and willing to research things they don't know.

Wants feedback and uses it to improve.

Enjoys being challenged and learning new skills.

Wants to become better at their job over time.

Can work independently while knowing when to ask for guidance.

A ROLE WHERE YOUCAN GROW

This is not just a position where you will be given a list of tasks to complete.

We want this to be a development opportunity for someone who wants to challenge themselves, learn and grow into a highly capable Event Manager.

You do not need to arrive knowing everything.

SGNA management will provide guidance, coaching, feedback and practical support while you learn our events, systems and way of working.

In return, we expect you to invest in your own development.

That means being willing to:
Ask questions and learn from experienced people.

Accept constructive feedback and act on it.

Research solutions when you don't know something.

Use available tools, technology and AI to work smarter.

Learn from mistakes rather than repeat them.

Gradually take on more responsibility.

Develop your planning, communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.

Challenge yourself to become increasingly independent.

We don't expect perfection.

We do expect progress.

The objective is that, with support from SGNA management and your own commitment to learning, you develop into someone who can eventually be handed an event and confidently say:

"Leave it with me. I'll make sure it gets done."

EXPERIENCE

Experience in event management, sports, education or operational roles is an advantage, but it is not the most important requirement.

We are equally interested in candidates who may have less experience but demonstrate initiative, intelligence, curiosity, reliability and a genuine desire to develop themselves.

If you are looking for a comfortable job where every day is predictable, this may not be the right position.

If you are looking fora role where you will be challenged, supported, trusted with increasing responsibility and given the opportunity to grow, we would like to hear from you.

JOBDETAILS

Full-time role, with required availability on event weekends.

Remote work is possible after 6 months, but event-day presence is mandatory.

The employment contract will be with SportCity Pte. Ltd., a sister company of Singapore Netball Academy Pte. Ltd.
