Job Description:
Reporting to the exempt, the incumbent is responsible for delivering and collecting logistics and transport support services within the hospital campus. He / She shall ensure the safe, timely and efficient movement of food trolleys, linen, refuse and other items between location in accordance with hospital operational, safety and infection control standards. The incumbent may be rotated between Tow Truck and Service Lift operations depending on operational needs.

Job Responsibilities:
A Key Responsibilities

Tow Truck Operations

Operate tow trucks to transport food trolleys, dry rations, soiled linen, and waste between hospital blocks, wards, and service areas, ensuring timely and efficient delivery and collection.

Deliver meals and rations to wards and return used food trolleys and utensils to the Dietetic and Catering Services (DCS) Department.

Tow and transport general refuse, biohazard and cytotoxic waste to designated disposal areas, ensuring proper segregation and compliance with hospital safety and regulatory requirements.

Perform daily pre-operation checks and routine maintenance of tow trucks, including cleaning, battery charging, and basic servicing. Report any faults, damages or safety concerns promptly.

Service Lift Operations

Operate service lifts to transport food, soiled linen and waste trolleys between Level 1 of hospital blocks and designated ward levels, ensuring timely and efficient movement.

Coordinate with ward staff to ensure smooth, timely collection and delivery of trolleys across departments.

Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of service lift areas, refuse rooms and soiled linen rooms, ensuring high standards of hygiene and prevention of cross-contamination.

Ensure proper segregation and handling of food, linen and all types of waste —including biohazard and cytotoxic materials — in compliance with hospital safety and regulatory requirements.

Report any lift malfunctions, trolley defects, or safety hazards promptly to the supervisor for immediate follow-up.

B Other Responsibilities

Assist supervisors in managing daily logistics operations, ensuring continuity of services, and promptly reporting any disruptions, incidents, or irregularities.

Provide support and coverage for logistics functions, including tow truck and service lift operations, as well as ad hoc deliveries and other assigned tasks to meet operational needs.

Assist in the towing, transportation, and unloading of bodies to the Mortuary in accordance with hospital protocols, ensuring dignity, safety, and compliance with infection control standards. Require 24/7 standby rotation to respond to calls as needed.

Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Competency

Require working in warm or humid environments
Physically fit to perform heavy lifting and manual handling of different types of trolleys

Educational and Professional Requirements

Minimum Secondary / N / O level education or equivalent
Able to speak, write and read simple English
Possession of a valid Class 3 / 4 driving license or Forklift license will be added advantage
Willing to perform shift duties, weekends and public holidays
