The Head of Compliance holds primary regulatory accountability for the Singapore branch and provides strategic compliance oversight across the APAC footprint. The role serves as the principal liaison with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and ensures that all institutional banking, financial markets, and treasury activities align with local regulatory requirements and home-country compliance frameworks. Managing a team of compliance experts you will lead the APAC team reducing risk and ensuring a robust framework for the bank to deliver its commercial goals

Responsibilities :

Regulatory Compliance Framework: Design, implement, and maintain the compliance management framework for the Singapore wholesale bank branch to ensure complete adherence to the MAS Banking Act, Securities and Futures Act (SFA), and relevant notices.

Business Advisory: Provide technical compliance advice to front-office business heads and product teams across Financial Markets (FICC), Corporate & Institutional Banking, and Treasury Services.

Financial Crime Oversight: Ensure robust Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), and Sanctions compliance programs are executed effectively across the regional hub.

Regulatory Liaison: Act as the main point of contact for the MAS and other relevant regional regulators, managing regulatory examinations, audits, and mandatory reporting submissions.

Governance & Reporting: Deliver objective compliance risk assessments and regular reporting to the regional executive committee and global risk boards. Ensure that senior management are fully briefed on all regulatory developments and that these changes are built into the internal compliance framework as well as product flows and new product offerings

Take ownership and overhaul the internal compliance framework within the business, implementing and improving new compliance policies whilst ensuring internal governance

Prerequisites for role:

  • 15-25 years of relevant industry experience with a strong commercial acumen, having worked within an international corporate and institutional banking compliance capacity on a trading floor/front office environment
  • Deep operational knowledge of MAS regulations and licensing requirements, alongside familiarity with wholesale financial markets products, derivatives, and treasury risk frameworks.
  • A proven track record of success in managing the regulatory requirements associated with a new product launch
