As a team, we are very passionate about the potential our industry has in shaping a city and take great pride in grooming the next generation of hospitality leaders. We build career paths around the individual, develop training modules both in-house and out, and design incentives and recognition programmes to ensure that good work always pays off.

For its efforts, the group has been recognised as a Human Capital Partner with the Ministry of Manpower, a “Great Place To Work” (2022 to 2025) and one of AON’s Best Employers. Wherever you are on the team, whatever your definition of success, we’ll set you on the right path.

We are looking for a dynamic and entrepreneurial leader to lead the development. The General Manager of New Bahru is responsible for driving the long-term growth, commercial success, and cultural relevance of New Bahru. This role leads the overall ecosystem of tenants, partners, events, experiences, and operations to ensure New Bahru remains a thriving destination that delivers meaningful community impact while achieving strong business performance.

The successful candidate will balance visionary thinking with disciplined execution, aligning diverse stakeholders around a shared vision and translating strategy into measurable outcomes.

Key areas of focus – include but are not limited to:

  • Identify new opportunities to strengthen New Bahru's position as a leading lifestyle, cultural, and community destination.
  • Monitor market trends, customer behaviours, and industry developments to inform strategic decision-making.

Commercial Growth

  • Drive revenue growth, profitability, and long-term sustainability across the precinct.
  • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships, sponsorships, collaborations, and business opportunities.
  • Monitor business performance and implement initiatives to improve commercial outcomes.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong relationships with tenants, partners, community stakeholders, government agencies, and internal teams.
  • Align diverse stakeholders around common objectives and foster a collaborative ecosystem.
  • Act as the primary ambassador and representative of New Bahru.

Community & Destination Development

  • Strengthen New Bahru's destination appeal through compelling experiences, programming, and partnerships.
  • Foster a vibrant and engaged community that reflects the identity and values of New Bahru.
  • Balance commercial objectives with the long-term health and relevance of the community.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of New Bahru to ensure a high standard of execution and guest experience.
  • Establish clear operating rhythms, accountability structures, and performance measures.
  • Ensure strategic initiatives are delivered effectively with strong follow-through and cross-functional coordination.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop the New Bahru team.
  • Build a high-performance culture rooted in ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Create clarity of expectations and support future leadership development within the team.

Key requirements:

  • 8–10 years of leadership experience in hospitality, lifestyle, destination management, placemaking, retail, community building, or related industries.
  • Proven track record of leading complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, business performance, and growth initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strategic partnerships and drive business development opportunities.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking coupled with operational discipline and execution excellence.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
