Youth Market Development

Increases gold’s share of mind and establishes gold’s value proposition among younger generations (e.g.,Millennials, Gen-Z, Gen Alpha)

  • Analyses and determines the values and concerns of younger generations
  • Scopes and segments countries globally, in coordination with Research and other internal stakeholders, to rank and prioritize them to grow medium-to-longer-term gold demand for gold through increased awareness of its value proposition
  • Investigates suitable partners to work with in each target market. Where we have a public relations contract for the target market, work with that agency: where we don’t have an agency, work with the communications team to identify and implement relationships with agencies
  • Works with agencies, identify ‘financial influencers’ (Key Opinion Leaders) and platforms to use to broaden the outreach to younger audiences
  • Works with the Research and Strategy teams to reposition research and other publications for younger audiences.

Spokesperson

Represents the views of the World Gold Council with key target audiences with a focus on younger generations (e.g., Millennials, Gen-Z, Gen Alpha)

  • Develops and delivers key messages about the World Gold Council and gold’s value proposition through appropriate media channels, both directly and with the assistance of Financial Influencers where appropriate
  • Develops and delivers strategies to communicate with younger generations of potential gold buyers. In addition, the role-holder will support the general activities of the World Gold Council including Research and Market Infrastructure
  • Establishes the most effective communication tools with interact with younger generations, considering traditional media and social media channels. Recognise that there won’t be a single global solution, but rather different mixes of methodologies are likely to work better in different markets.


Gold market structure and drivers of gold performance (Asia)

Analyses the macroeconomy and gold market to explains how demand and supply dynamics influence gold’s performance in Asia (including but not limited to China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Australia region) with a primary focus on younger generations (e.g., Millennials, Gen-Z, Gen Alpha)

  • Interprets data and market information from a variety of sources and identifies key messages
  • Contributes to quantitative models, in coordination with Research, that capture key drivers of demand and supply and complements with qualitative perspectives – both jewellery and investment gold
  • Contributes to any other relevant analytics, review and editorial processes required
  • Contributes to internal knowledge, building and sharing presentations with the broader organisation for Asia with a focus on younger generations

Gold as a strategic asset (Asia)

Explains gold’s dual role as a consumer good (jewellery) and investment asset with for a focus on Asian markets and a primary objective of younger generations (e.g., Millennials, Gen-Z, Gen Alpha)

  • Analyses economic trends and developments in financial market that help contextualize gold role as jewellery and a strategic portfolio asset, in coordination with Research
  • Summarises insights and determine key messages for Asia
  • Identifies barriers and market opportunities for gold in the region, and contributes insights into other research projects and reports

Key WGC initiatives (Asia)

Explains the contributions of WGC to the development of the gold market ecosystem to Asian audiences including but not limited to younger generations (e.g., Millennials, Gen-Z, Gen Alpha)

  • Develops and delivers key messages pertaining major WGC initiatives such as ESG, Gold 247, Gold Bar Integrity, Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining, among others

Market Engagement (Asia)

Represents the views of WGC more broadly, with investors, industry, and media with including but not limited to younger generations (e.g., Millennials, Gen-Z, Gen Alpha)

  • Acts as key point of contact for insights and data pertinent to WGC content such as Gold Demand Trends and Strategic case among others for gold for younger generations in Asia
  • Engages with industry on a regular basis for insights on key developments in Asia gold market in coordination with Research
  • Works in coordination with, Research, Marketing and Communications to support the messaging
  • Supports Institutional Investor Relationships, Central Banks and other teams on engagements with key target audiences in Asia
  • Presents at meetings, conferences and forums on key WGC initiatives including but not limited to case for gold, standards, and market infrastructure

Understands the internet ecosystem of the target markets, especially the mobile internet ecosystem.
