Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Delivery and Lesson Planning:

  • Deliver engaging and interactive English lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs and abilities of primary school students (typically Primary 1 to Primary 6) according to lesson plans and teaching curriculum materials provided by the enrichment centre.
  • Adapt and supplement existing enrichment centre curriculum materials to align with the MOE Primary English syllabus, incorporating elements such as grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, writing, and oral communication.

  • Incorporate effective teaching methodologies and strategies to promote active learning, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Prepare and organise necessary teaching materials and resources before each lesson.

Classroom Management and Learning Environment:

  • Create and maintain a positive, disciplined, and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and respect.
  • Implement effective classroom management techniques to ensure a conducive atmosphere for learning.
  • Foster a love for the English language and build students' confidence in their language abilities.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during class.

Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring:

  • Regularly assess student understanding through observation, class participation, assignments, and informal assessments.
  • Administer and mark enrichment centre-based assessments and provide constructive feedback to students.
  • Monitor individual student progress and identify areas where additional support or enrichment is needed.
  • Communicate student progress and any concerns to parents/guardians and the Centre Manager/Academic Coordinator through parent-teacher briefing after each lesson, or other communication channels.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to share best practices, teaching resources, and insights on student learning.
  • Attend staff meetings, professional development workshops, and training sessions as required.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with parents/guardians regarding their child's progress and any relevant information.
  • Work closely with the Centre Manager/Academic Coordinator to ensure the smooth and effective delivery of the English enrichment programs.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and assessments.
