Full job description

Our client is a Singapore-based applied R&D lab building an open-source humanoid robot platform and the full software stack behind it, working across hardware architecture, locomotion, autonomy, simulation and infrastructure. This role owns the mechanical systems that bring the robot to life.

What You'll Do

Design and develop mechanical assemblies across a full humanoid robot body, including joints, actuators, sensor mounts and structural members

Build detailed 3D parts, drawings and assembly models across plastics, metal and composites in Solidworks or equivalent CAD tools

Run hands-on test rigs — load testing, fatigue cycling, thermal soak and kinematic validation

Lead DFM reviews with contract manufacturers, working the shop floor to understand tooling constraints and failure modes

Produce and maintain production drawings with GD&T and inspection callouts for manufacturing and QA handoff

Set up and instrument test stands, wire sensors and analyze data to close the loop on design iterations

Coordinate with firmware and electrical teams on physical integration of actuators, sensors and PCBs, including cable routing and serviceability

Contribute build guides, BOM documentation and assembly instructions to the project's open-source hardware releases

Core Key Skills

3+ years of hands-on mechanical design experience on high-complexity electromechanical products

Strong Solidworks proficiency across detailed parts, multibody assemblies, surfaces and drawings

Track record with sheet metal fabrication and traditional/additive manufacturing

Experience with GD&T and producing 2D engineering drawings for manufacturing and QA

Ability to run and interpret FEA simulations (static, dynamic, thermal)

Comfortable designing within tight cost and weight constraints without sacrificing reliability

Hands-on experience with material selection, actuator selection, fasteners and mechanisms

Proficient in rapid prototyping methods (FDM, SLA, CNC, laser cutting)

Strong communication skills across suppliers, cross-disciplinary engineers and leadership

Nice to Have

Experience with bipedal/humanoid robot hardware, legged locomotion, or high-DOF manipulators

Robotics competition experience

Python scripting for CAD workflow or data automation

Familiarity with sim-to-real workflows and control system deployment to hardware
