Reporting to: Head of Wealth Planning (additional soft reporting line to Regional CEO)
Role Purpose
Provide holistic wealth advisory services to ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) individuals and families. The role focuses on tax-efficient structuring, succession planning, intergenerational wealth transfer, philanthropy, and family governance, delivered in partnership with internal investment specialists and external legal/tax advisors.
This role also plays a key role in business development, with a requirement to generate new opportunities and assist others in winning new business; with a particular focus on UHNW or HNW individuals or families.
To own and be accountable for the regional strategy for Global Wealth Advisory (GWA), working closely with both the Head of Wealth Planning and the Regional CEO to deliver the business objectives and key results within your region. The role will form part of the global leadership team for Global Wealth Advisory.
Key Responsibilities
- Own, and be accountable for, the local delivery of Global Wealth Advisory to clients and prospects of the bank.
- Develop bespoke, goals-based wealth plans aligned to client objectives, risk appetite, family dynamics and jurisdictional considerations.
- Leverage own network to generate new opportunities for the WM business.
- Partnering with client advisors to win new business, generating new asset flows for the Wealth Management business.
- Lead tax-efficient structuring and estate planning discussions, coordinating with external tax/legal experts to implement appropriate wealth structures.
- Guidance on tax-efficient wealth transfer, trusts, charitable frameworks. Emphasis on bespoke wealth architecture rather than investment advice.
- Establish and refine family governance frameworks (e.g., Family Charters, decision rights, education pathways) and philanthropic structures (donor-advised funds, charities).
- Knowledge centre for trusts, family investment companies, charitable foundations and other appropriate wrappers.
- Guidance on cross-border planning and residency implications, coordinating with international specialists.
- Collaborate with client coverage teams to translate planning outcomes into actionable execution steps.
- Prepare technical memoranda, client presentations and implementation roadmaps; participate in complex client meetings as subject-matter expert.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax legislation and regulatory changes within your defined jurisdiction(s), producing thought leadership and client alerts where relevant.
- Ensure regulatory and conduct standards are always met, managing any conflicts of interest appropriately.
- Track planning milestones and outcomes, ensuring accurate record-keeping, and documentation. Where relevant, to manage direct reports effectively and in line with the Schroder values and broader manager expectations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Professional qualification: STEP (Trusts & Estates), CTA (Chartered Tax Adviser) or local equivalent is preferred; legal or tax background advantageous.
- Proven experience (10+ years) delivering complex wealth planning and/or private client tax advice to HNW/UHNW clients and entrepreneurial families.
- Demonstrable expertise in local and regional tax; familiarity with tax planning and asset structuring in Singapore and surrounding Asian countries.
- Experienced in multi-jurisdictional planning and coordination with external counsel and tax advisers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to simplify complex topics and facilitate family discussions. Experience in successfully leading projects, individuals and teams.
Technical & Behavioural Competencies
- Technical: Trusts, estates, philanthropy, family governance, cross-border tax considerations, relevant tax wrappers & structures, liquidity planning.
- Regulatory: Strong understanding of compliance and risk frameworks. Behavioural: Client-centricity, sound judgment, discretion, stakeholder management, presentation and influencing skills.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Quality and timeliness of client planning deliverables (memoranda, structures, implementation).
- Client satisfaction scores and retention among advised families.
- Thought leadership output (insights/alerts) and internal enablement (Client Advisor training, best-practice playbooks).
- New client acquisition levels (gross AUM) and appropriate new client lead generation. Compliance metrics: audit findings, documentation completeness, absence of conduct breaches.

- Internal: Client Advisors, Wealth Planning, Family Office, Lending, Banking & Treasury, tax specialists (where applicable), compliance, legal, operations. External: Law firms, tax advisers, insurance brokers, trustees, accountants, philanthropy advisors.
