Job Description & Requirements
About Saab
Saab is a leading Defence and Security company with an enduring mission, to help nations keep their people and society safe. Saab designs, manufactures and maintains Advanced systems in Aeronautics, Weapons, Command and Control, Sensors and Underwater systems.
Saab is headquartered in Sweden. It has major operations all over the world and is part of the domestic Defence capability of several nations. Empowered by its 26,100talented people, Saab constantly pushes the boundaries of technology to create a safer and more sustainable world.
Joining us means making an impact together, contributing in our own unique ways. From crafting complex code and building impressive Defence and Security solutions to simply sharing a coffee with a colleague, every action counts. We encourage you to take on challenges, to create smart inventions and grow in our friendly and tech-savvy workspace. We have a solid mission to keep people and society safe.
What you will be part of:
Explore a wealth of possibilities. Take on challenges, create smart inventions, and grow beyond. This is a place for curious minds, brave pioneers, and everyone in between. Together, we achieve the extraordinary, each bringing our unique perspectives. Your part matters.
Saab constantly pushes the boundaries of technology to create a safer and more sustainable world.
Saab designs, manufactures and maintains advanced systems in Aeronautics, Weapons, Command and Control, Sensors and Underwater systems. Saab is headquartered in Sweden. It has major operations all over the world and is part of the domestic defence capability of several nations.
Your role:
As Regional Marketing & Communications Manager Asia, you are Saab’s marketing and communications lead, on the ground in the region.
You will own the Regional agenda across our four priority markets and translate Saab’s global brand platform, marketing direction and communications priorities into work that lands locally and supports the business. That means campaigns, content, media, events, digital, stakeholder communication, and all the details in between that shape how Saab is seen and understood.
It is a broad role. This role is designed for someone who wants ownership, proximity to the business and the chance to make a real difference.
You will report to the Vice President, Global Head of Brand & Marketing and be part of Saab’s Group Brand & Marketing team. You will be supported by colleagues based around the world, but primarily in Sweden and across Europe, spanning brand strategy, creative, editorial, digital, events and employer brand.
At Group level, we are building stronger platforms, clearer frameworks and a more connected way of working across brand, marketing and communications. You will benefit from that work and play a key role in making sure it lands in Asia. We are moving fast. You need to want to move with us.
What you will do:
- own the Regional Marketing and Communications agenda across Japan, South Korea, Thailand and Singapore
- translate Saab’s global brand platform and messaging into relevant regional initiatives
- partner with Business Areas, country leadership and Group Communication functions to align priorities and drive execution
- develop and execute campaigns and communications that strengthen Saab’s position and support business goals
- lead regional media relations across mainstream and trade media together with the Press & Media team
- drive the regional event and activation agenda across key forums and market activities
- produce and adapt content across digital, social, press, internal and event channels
- manage agencies and external partners with high standards for quality and delivery protecting Saab’s brand
- track performance, monitor market developments and turn insights into clear recommendations and action
This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
SKILLS
You know what it means to operate in the space between strategy and execution and you are good at both. You can hold your own in a senior discussion about positioning, priorities or stakeholder context, and you can still roll up your sleeves and improve the copy, sharpen the message, fix the plan or push the work over the line. You value progress over polish but can immediately identify great copy and content.
You are comfortable in complex, matrixed environments and know how to build trust, alignment and momentum across functions, markets and seniority levels.
You also understand that Asia is not one market. You know how to adapt intelligently to local context without diluting the brand or lowering the standard. Most of all, you are energized by building. You do not need a finished playbook to do good work. You are excited by the opportunity to help shape it.
What you bring:
- a relevant university degree or equivalent
- solid experience in both Marketing and Communications, ideally in a large B2B or B2G organization with Regional or International scope
- a strong track record of turning strategy into work that supports business priorities and creates impact
- experience working across Asian markets and understanding the political, cultural and commercial dynamics of the Region and countries
- strong judgement, self-leadership and the ability to make good decisions within your mandate but know when to align with stakeholders and the wider team
- excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Proficiency in one or more languages spoken in Saab’s priority markets in Asia is a strong advantage.
- Strong judgement, self-leadership and the ability to make good decisions within your mandate but know when to align with stakeholders and the wider team
